I got one of those cheap electric/hydro floorlifts that brings a car up 4 ft off the ground...works great, saves the back and makes working on all 4 corners a breeze.... But I have to wonder if I am lifting the car at the right points? Motor and trans are in, glass and dash are out, front lift points are set just about an inch ahead of the t bar cross and at the rear spring front perches....I noticed the gaps on the doors change a little (but still open/close) and the gap on the vent window/windshield post tightens up a lot...set it back down and all is good...seems extreme to me, but may be the norm, idk...any info, tips, or similar stories?

Sounds about normal w/o a full frame underneath. Even a full frames moves but not as much as a uni-body.

I put a rusted out cavalier on my hoist a few years ago. Thought it was going to fold in half. Lol

Changed the oil in my Town & Country two days ago. Kinda a pia to find a good lift point on the rear.

I put the front as far forward as is reasonable w a solid lift point and same for rear..
Just be sure to always use the locks before crawling under.

I always thought unibodies were a lot stiffer, but with all that weight up front, I guess some flex is expected...just don't know how much is expected....I back up the China lift and locks with China floor jacks and China jack stands......what could possibly go wrong beekool?.....lol!

Had mine up on 4 jackstands... ya know, during my jackstand racing days... and I had all sorts of sag. Good news, I let it down and it all went back into place!

Kinda like a woman born in 1969...

Is it like the "quikjack" or similar? Fer those they say you can lift the car one of two ways; either front to back or side to side. might make a difference. but I didnt stay at Holiday Inn last night, so what the hell do I know? lol

lol! Its a Rotary unit. Has 4 arms with lift pads....a little tippy at full height, but i don't pick it up that far....12v batt runs the whole thing..simple enough.

Talk about excessive sag. LOL.

I lift mine at the rear spring hangers and as far forward of the torsion bar crossmember as I can before the rails start their upward bend... No problems.

If you're not trying to keep your car original, subframe connectors and torque boxes aren't a bad idea.

Your good. There will be some effect on the door gaps when lifted but if they open and close the "sag" you are experiencing is more than acceptable. Converts will experience a bit more "sag" but what you are seeing is good for coupe or convert. Opening and closing doors while it is on the lift is not recommended though unless necessary. It could possibly effect latch alignment/adjustment and any other places like the vent window gap you mentioned may change and you could chip paint, scuff trim, weatherstrip, door glass or some other tightness you don't notice right away. Enjoy the convenience and be safe.
