Flywheel question.

1969 Coronet, Super-Bee, 383 , 4 speed.

Flywheel has cracks, so needs replacement.

I measured it, and overall, not including teeth, it is 14-3/8"-Approx., wide/diameter.

I do have a parts list, (Attached and my car underlined), original Mopar I think, but doesn't give part number for my model, and looking at a few online distributer's, I only see 11" listed, etc.

Sorry and excuse my lack of knowledge in this area...

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Count the number of teeth on the wheel. 143 is the 11 inch. 130 is the 10 1/2.

And I believe “stock” in an 11” clutch/flywheel (fyi)

143 Tooth with 11" clutch.
Just over 12" is 122T
Just over 13" is 130T
Just over 14" is 143T

If the cracks in your current flywheel are not too severe, having it surfaced may remove them. If you buy a new flywheel don’t automatically assume it’s good out of the box. Straight edge it and after mounting check with a dial indicator for surface runout. I bought a new Hays years ago and it took 2 surfacing to get it flat.

Also a good time to check centerline concentricity between engine and transmission.

Surface cracks is common in used FW's but large cracks can be bad....also, read post #5....

Small heat cracks on the disc area are okay to turn out. Cracks on the edge of the wheel are not.

The other issue to think about if you get your flywheel surfaced how thick does it have to be? How many times has a 50-year-old flywheel been surfaced? Many shops don't have the specs on flywheel thickness they just cut them until smooth. As the flywheel gets thinner it affects the clutch linkage as the pressure plate gets deeper into the bellhousing. Many times this is a deal breaker with a hydraulic clutch. As well as reducing the strength of the flywheel.

You would use the 2843211. They make the parts book hard to understand. the 2264597 is for 10 1/2 inch clutch. The 2843211 is for 11 inch clutch.

I recommend people go with a steel flywheel. It’s a good safety upgrade.
I bought a Ram 2 years ago and the quality was great.

That car will come with a 11 inch flywheel with a 143 tooth ring gear.

It's alright to reuse the flywheel hairline cracks are only on the surface.

As long as the cracks ARE only on the surface. If they extend to the crank bolt holes it is scrap.
