I have read some of the posts on the forum in regards to what is the best product to go with; however, some of the posts were dated a few years back and curious to know if much has changed?

The brands I see that are the most talked about are PST, Pirate Jack, SSBC (Classic Industries), and Right Stuff (Summit Racing) other than Wilwood. Not looking to spend Wilwood $$$, what is the next best kit to go with?

Thanks,
Mike

Probably the least expensive way to go is locate a set of 73-76 A Body disc brake spindles. The are the same dimensionally as the 62-72 B body. No need to change the UCA or LCA. Both your upper and lower ball joints will work perfectly - during the swap would be the perfect time to change them if needed. Buy your calipers, rotors, bearings, brake hoses etc brand new. I'd also swap to a disc brake dual reservoir master cylinder. I did this swap on a 65 Coronet 44 I had as well as a 69 Charger.

I did a scarebird brackets on my 64 front no issues 35K. inexpensive

Thanks for the info. I will definitely be swapping to a dual reservoir.

Scarebird is definitely an option that I have looked at. While I can probably save a few bucks going with Scarebird, I don't have a problem spending a few more bucks and buying a kit that is a direct fit.

Here's another option I just found, great price. I am also in the same boat, gotta get rid of the front drums. It's getting hard to find cheap spindles and adaptors now!

I have looked at this as well. Has anyone used this kit?

I may have a complete front and rear ssbc with dual master and prop valve for sale here soon, complete with brackets. All parts purchased at summit racing, there brand built by ssbc. Brakes were on my 65 coronet for one season. going to bigger wilwoods.

What is your reason for going with the Wilwood? I'd gather that the SSBC just aren't cutting it or weren't what you expected? Too much HP for the SSBC brakes?

the ssbbc brakes stopped the car just fine. Went to a dana rear from strange so a rear brake change was needed. Just Figured since strange gave me a good deal on the wildwood package. I would change front and rears.

I have a buddy who just put a CPP brake kit on his camaro and its a pretty nice set for the money. I'll probably go that route as well since you can't get scare bird brackets and rotors and calipers for less than the CPP kit.
CPP kit with everything
$399
Scare bird kit Heavy Duty
$175 brackets,
$90 for rotors for full size ford at rock auto
$150 for calipers for 1995 1/2 ton Ram truck
Not to mention all the other parts you'll need as far as brake lines etc.....that come with the CPP kit

i did the conversion on my 65 coronet with the Right Stuff kit; definitely not worth the money! do what 65 Dartman says and use 1" master cylinder bore. save yourself some money.

I believe I've seen others on the sight mentioned that they didn't care for Right Stuff brakes. I believe my brother has swapped for some for my 65 but I don't know what brand they are yet.

Have a Volare set up on my wagon with the swaybar! Works sweet, handles/stops perfect! 102_4635.jpg

I put a right stuff kit from doctor diff on mine. Easy straight forward bolt on and work great. Check a couple pages back, I posted pics as I did it spring 2014.
