Anyone running EFI on their 340 or 360?
Does one engine or the other lend itself best to EFI (based on modern hardware compatibility, performance, ease of installation, etc.)?
I've heard the 360 magnum can accept the modern 5.9 L R/T injection setup?
Just learning here.... :)

The carb replacement kits such as Holley sniper efi, fitech efi, fast efi, are pretty simple installs. Basically plug and play, I don't think either 340/360 would have a problem running it.

Bought a 72 dodge dart from Dave Kollel of Huron, Oh. about 5 years ago. The car was in N.C. at that time. I tell this with what info and knowledge that I have of it. It came with roll cage nice racing seats and a 360 engine with fuel inj. around that time Holley made some throttle bodies (1100 cfm) that accepted chrysler sensors. It had a wiring harness overlayed from a truck i believe. I believe it was the same as a 380 hp crate. It ran reallly nice. Tried to have it tuned and that is where the problems began. No one here new how to tune the old Jtech ecu. ( appox a 2000 dodge truck or car) I believe it was around 310 hp and 320 tq aat the wheels. Fun to play with and very driveable. Decided I wanted more and had a 408 built with 9.5 c/r. engine quest heads, M1 intake and custom cam be cam craft in Asheville NC Ran 850 quick fuel for a year and got tired of foolng with it. Changed to Electromotive Tec 3 which controls ignition and fuel. Both 850 and fuel inj. gave within 1 hp and a few ft of torque of each other. 400 and 416 alot of fun to drive now. Can make you bite the seat here in the mountains of N.C. Back to your question, I think any of the bolt on to control fuel would be idea. It sure makes them more driveable.

Thanks for your input, sounds like a fun dart!
With respect to fuel efficiency and reliability, while preserving some pep (or even the ability to uptune / downtune on the fly?), I imagine aftermarket EFI setups are much easier and just as effective as an OEM throttle body etc.? For instance, I understand the 360 magnum is/was still in use in late model vehicles and there are some modern Chrysler throttle tops that can bolt right in? Is there any temptation to do this or are recent after market EFI options just as (or nearly) efficient and reliable as OEM while bring much easier? I am new to dodge but plan on driving my mopar ALOT (throughout the summer).

Assuming your motor currently has a carb, do yourself a favor and don't try to use a wire harness off a modern 5.9 with efi go get one of the carb replacement kits I listed above and plug in a couple wires and be done. You won't be disappointed

Thanks man, very consistent with what I'm hearing.
As a stranger to Mopar, which between the 340 vs. 360 might be recommended? I realize that might be a can of worms, but wondering what are the highlights?

Never owned either but my motto is no replacement for displacement, so get a 440! lol no they're basically the same engine you can't go wrong with either.

For the ease of installation and self tune stick with a carb type bolt on EFI. Fuel economy is quiet better. You better know something about auto electrical to start swapping harnesses. Good Luck

OK good advice, thank you jts & corone t. What might be the first choice in after market bolt-on EFI for a 360 magnum and why? Just wondering the pros and cons of each brand/model... Has anyone done a comprehensive comparison? I'll Google & YouTube the question but just wondering what you guys think here.

Personally for my build I'm using the Holley sniper efi, there's a couple other popular carb replacements out there as well. Fitech, fast efi... friend of mine is using the sniper efi on his car and has worked flawlessly that's why I chose that one, I've seen it in action.
