Hi guys-I installed a 68 440 in a 64 Plymouth Fury.My fuel line is 3/8 and the inlet on the fuel pump is 5/16.Is this the way it should be or should I get a different fuel pump.If so what is the brand to get? Thanks

Stock size fuel line should be 5/16"....did someone install a 3/8" line in the car at some point?

Yes, standard is 5/16--but all the max wedges came with 3/8 to prevent the engine "starving" for fuel at WOT. Most of us have converted to at least 3/8" line. Now, if you're running into a 5/16" inlet, it seems to me you just encountered a downsizing restriction. Edelbrock offers a 110 gph big block mechanical fuel pump with 3/8 inlet and outlet. Edelbrock offers the same configuration in an electric pump--your choice. Good luck, Bob

Thank you for the information. You guys are the best.Even an old dummy like me can do alot of the work himself with a little help from my freinds.

I even took it a step farther and got a clay smith 1/2 inch in and out- then ran the line to a regulator after the pump just didnt want to take the chance of the edelbrock or holley pump failing or not having enough umph and the clay smith was only about 10 dollars more-

They have a good reputation of die hard never fail pumps-

You will be fine. I am running the original 5/16" line with a Holley pump that has 3/8" capability. No issues on my mild street motor.
