Fuel Tank Sending Unit Question

You have to get yourself one of these tools Wayne. So much easier to get things lined up and straight.

Yep, but the sender will still turn on you as the ring gets nice and tight. Why you need to look in the tank after you'd done.. and then on the next try start crooked in the opposite direction so the tightening brings it straight!

so after reading several threads about junk sending units, I think I will try to reuse my old one, problem is I have new 3/8 front to rear line, question is can I use the 5/16 sending unit with it? thanks

If you don't need a return line.. sure. Warm up the 5/16 hose in HOT water and then force it over the 3/8 line, then install to the senders 5/16" outlet tube.
