Future of NASCAR

It's been said that today's NASCAR racers look like melted soap bars with stickers. Gee, I wonder why?

I am not a fan of the NASCRAP "ROUNDY ROUND" left hand turn racing at all. A complete joke. Now if anyone wants to talk about Road Racing....cr8crshr/Tuck

sucked since they went to Small Blocks & banned the winged warriors

As we all know, back in the day, NASCAR was dominated by Ford & Chrysler and every GM car was at the back of the pack. Of course the aero cars from Chrysler & Ford dominated and as such were banned, but in the mid 80's, Chevy came out with their own aero car and was allowed to run. Funny how that works.

I've been a ticket holder @ Route 66 from day one. Crowds getting thinner every year. I will say 66 has been catering to (and trying to keep) the fans coming. But NASCAR IMHO is pricing themselves out of a job so to speak. My thought lets go back to "stock cars". Ok in todays world... Chally/Charger - Mustang - Cumarrow. I'm guessing that would eliminate Yoda... As for Ma's involvement or lack thereof is who ever owns them at the time.
I've actually have gotten a little tired of the whole thing. But it is a get away weekend, like a mini vacation so that I'll keep.

The last "Stock-looking" stock cars were in the early '90s. You could tell a Thunderbird from a Monte Carlo from a Cutlass pretty easily. Now? Yeah, good luck with that.

NA$CAR has turned into the "IROC" series and we all know what happen to that series. I just don't enjoy follow the leader, that is not racing. I lost interest years ago.

I owned two Preferred Seating Licenses before Texas even got a race date. The first season the price was $300+ total to watch every race. By the time I sold them a few years ago the price had risen to $700+, and I couldn't even give away the tickets to the two IRL races that were part of the package. However, the rising prices were not the deciding factor for me, but rather the four seats in front of me that were occupied by four people who found it mandatory to get drunk and chain smoke every race, while they yelled four letter words at drivers, teams and officials. That's why I quit attending.

I now watch some races where driving is the most important ingredient in winning. The floor it and turn left races are when I catch up on my nap time before fast forwarding to the last few laps.

When NASCAR gets out of the car designing and affirmative action game, and let the manufacturers build better race cars, I'll be back, but not before. Buy them from the showroom, strip the interior and install roll bars and let them race with stock engines and on DOT tires, and they couldn't keep me away from the track!

I watch it to see is Patrick can complete a lap without a crash, Kurt to see if he has a anger moment( waiting for that outcome) Harvick, to see if he'll take his Helmet off, after he's going to fight someone, And When Tony says my team is costing me money, Ya, my wife and itake in about 4- races a year, we travel from Ontario by car, it's Holiday

I've always been a fan of European Rally racing. It's on public roads, it takes some serious skill AND big balls to take those roads at 110 mph while making crazy turns on gravel goatpaths; all the while having spectators being a part of the racing action...and sometimes, part of the carnage! How fun can that be? LOTS! I want to see an event live and in person. Might have to make it up to Newfoundland one of these days!

i keep waiting on a Patrick "wardrobe malfunction" although probably very disappointing it would be more exciting than the race

IMHO, NASCAR is like the nfl and heavy weight boxing; performance has gotten so advanced that the sport has taken a backseat. After several decades of this, we are seeing that sport is what draws us, not just bigger faster stronger.

NASCAR has a problem - their hunger for speed has made going back to OEM chassis an impossibility. The only thing I can see them doing is loosening body regulations to allow more OEM-like body lines over the existing NASCAR chassis.

I don't even know why NAPCAR keeps referring to a Ford, a Chevy or a Toyota, when there is absolutely no difference in the cars, the only differences are the paint jobs, numbers and decals.
The drivers are all little robot like corporate spokes mouths.....with the exception of a couple of them who still have personalities and little fire in their bellies!

Actually the only thing unique to the car makes are the engines, each make runs engines of its' manufacturer's origins, pretty much all the Toyotas come out of TRD Toyota Racing Development, Ford engines all come from Doug Yates' Shop and the Chevy's from Hendrick or Childress.

Yep, now it's just a season long IROC race ... :angry9:

Couldn't agree more. NASCAR is doing everything that they can to make the cars identical. The only difference is the paint job and the decals. It's just IROC with more cars.

And it's usually done on a road circuit neither driver or navigator has ever practiced on before !!!
