I finally gave up waiting for Kramer and bought a hemi scoop for my 65 coronet on ebay. Turns out it's from sled city. I got it 2 days later, packaged OK and really looks like a nice piece, very sturdy and well cut. Anyone have any suggestions before I cut my stock metal hood ? I plan on running a single 4 barrel, 2 inch riser but the scoop is mostly just cause I think it looks cool, lame as that sounds. I saw the link from 62 to 65 b body but it doesnt get very specific. Just wondered if anyone has done this and has any hints. Thanks

ps....forgot to add.....it was over $100 cheaper than the other guy with shipping, whose wait list I have been on almost a year! and yeah.....I'm a little bitter about the whole thing

You have the patience of a saint, I would have said blankity blank after 2 weeks.

Wow. i'm pretty calm, but to wait a year? Anyway, good to hear you have a nice part. Was looking at Sled City for deck lid and maybe hood with scoop. I'll be following this to see how it turns out. Picts would be great!!

Picked up a 63 maxwedge scoop from Maas years ago, thought I would put it on my car went to a swap meet a couple of weeks later and a guy had one from another company that was alot stiffer seemed to be constructed alot better but also came with a price

I have been very happy with the scoop from Sled City. Very little paint prep necessary and fits like a glove.

Yeah Kramer is over priced for sure!I know he's slow but a Year! Sled City has some good parts, and decent prices.

I want one for my 65 Coronet, too. Can you post a picture? I went on their site and all there is is their pricing info, which isn't bad. I'm interested to see how the sides meet the hood. Thanks.

I dont blame you as Kramer is very high on prices. Ron

Old picture. Sides match the hood very well. I used thin weatherstripping from Lowes to prevent any paint chipping.

Not sure if this will work but give it a listen:

Take air cleaner off
Take a string and run it from the left fender to right fender. Making sure you also run it across the center of the carb.
Put a small piece of painters tape under the string on the fenders. Where the string is on the fender put a small black mark there on the tape.
Now do the same but front to back (Cowl to Hood)
Put the hood back on and line up the 4 marks.
Now where those marks intersect put a small black dot there.
That should be the center of your hole.
BUT this will not be the center of your hood.

Thoughts, ideas or comments on this method.

thanks everyone for feedback. Haven't been able to get back up to the barn and check the fit but like the piece out of the box. I'll try the method listed for measuring and submit some pics when done. Gotta fix the hood hinge nut on the edge of the hood first.....still not too sure about that one. Thanks again

Here is a good and clever "how to" site on the hemi scoop cutouts from the 62 to 65 mopar website. This is for two carbs but will work with one.

I havent decided on where to get the scoop for myself yet but I do like this one I found on this site. Anyone get one of these from car crazy fiberglass?
