Glad to be a New Member!I just tore down the numbers matching 68 383 short block out of my Super Bee that has been on the engine stand since I bought the car.im running a 67 383 in it right now. It didn,t have the lifters in it for me to know if this is a hydrallic roller cam or flat tappet, I found Kinetics Detroit, A5H 300 R stamped on the end of it. can't find any info online about it and also I have a Crower A 1159 100R cam that came with it. Can any bodie give some Info on these Cams?

Hi Gear Head from Katy Texas!

Welcome to the forum.
Thank you for joining.

Cam help huh?

It breaks down as:
A= Mopar I think
5=
H=Hydraulic
300= Profile such as a 270 or a 244 or a 284, so: 300 is radical
R=General Kinetics "REDLINE" Extreme performance camshaft line (For Racing purposes)

The "R letter designation" referred to their "REDLINE" (Performance) Camshaft line.

General Kinetics Camshaft co.
They made camshafts I know of during the early 70s
(Probably 60s-70s)

General Kinetics cams
M= Mechanical
H= Hydraulic
1= Small block
2= Big block
284= Advertised Intake duration with 1.5 rocker
a-z letter suffix= modification of original design. More exh dur., changed centerline, changed exh pattern, etc. EXCEPT the "R" series of "Redline" cams. These were the "White box" mass produced street cams that you can still buy under a dozen different brand names.

thanks,

Thanks that make since. it has the orginal crank in it that is shaved ,drilled and filled. with some beefy rods and .060 trw forged 11.5 to 1's according to the numbers on the pistons and free floating wrist pins. just curious about what the lift wood be?. cam still looks good. for its age this engine been sitting in a garage all cover in axle grease to preserve it. in apple creek ohio for the last 20 years!

hi and welcome to the site :headbang:

It's funny, I have a GK A6H 300R cam I'm trying to get specs. on. It's out of an old 340 I have that ran pretty good back in the day.

I'm trying to find out centerline and information on what valve springs might be used with it because I would like to put it in another 340.

I wonder if the "5" and the "6" in the part number mean small block = 6 versus big block = 5?
