Needed a battery for my Gm truck today, yes chevy lol. Bought the truck there, soon after the battery was shot after two years use, they replaced it I had to pay 85.00 of the cost, two years later exactly its shot again, they replaced it free, today two years again its shot, wont start the truck. I take it in they test it, its bad. They say the warranty is pro rated back to the first battery I paid the 85.00 for not the actual battery in the truck, they want 105.00 from me. I say ok, but they he announces that this battery again warranties back to the very first battery install 7 years ago, so in other words because they paid some of the cost I have no warranty on a brand new battery. After some arguing about me taking it in the rear dry, I tell the guy to reinstall the crap battery and Im driving the 500 ft down the road to Napa. Never heard such a assinine way to do bussiness, its an new battery , I want a warranty and not one starting 7 or 8 years ago. They have some fancy *** machine now that takes a damn hour to test a battery these days. I said it was bad when I drove in, first clue the jump start every morning to start it. Wheres my old dodge diesel!

I've worked for 34 years for GM. Their logic,or lack thereof, defies logic. I try not to think too hard about it;my head hurts and wants to explode. I've got friends who were dealer mechanics(YOU guys don't get enough credit,so I'm giving it here!) who had that glazed look in their eyes after working there a while. Yes,it's a,uh,different way of thinking.

Geez;does the above sound like a quasi-rant? Or full-on rant? Might it have something to do with having got out of work about an hour ago? I come here cuz this crowd helps with the de-compression. Thank you!

Welder47;ya did the right thing. Both in keeping your cool and just goin' down the road. I almost exclusively deal with a locally owned/run Auto Value store, whether it's for the '64 or the GM trucks in the drive.

I woulda got a new battery elsewhere and keep the old one long enough to deposit it at the GM place.....probably up-side-down on the hood of the priciest car on the lot....you know...'the acid test'.

Been running a Napa battery in my hay squeeze. Same thing it will only last about two years but they have been just giving me another one every time I take it back in there. First time I paid 40 bucks or so but the last two I did not pay any thing.

My Wife has a Hyundai (nice little car, actually), but EVERY trip for service (which voids the warranty if you don't) or a warranty issue is $100. She's had the radio replaced 3 times. I say next time, buy a $80 aftermarket radio! She got quoted $540 to replace the timing belt (at 70,000 or void the warranty), but took it to an ASE certified local shop for $275. Next time she went to the dealer. they told her the warranty was void. She expected this and had her paperwork. Then they said she was given "a bad quote" for the work and it would have been "only" $270 there. Hmmmmm.
