Hello
I'm thinking about getting a 1966 D100, and have lots of questions. Signed up at For Trucks Only, but it seems like very little activity there, especially in the older D100 forum.
I'm looking for information such as power steering conversion and disc brake conversion kits. Also looking for advice on Air conditioning.
Anyhow if you have a site to recommend let me know.
Take care Bill

True the site is a little slow, but there is a hard-core of guys who pop in with sound advice.

There are other sites out there for similar tucks, but in my experience those sites are riddled with bugs and hackers/scammers ....and I wouldn't trust anyone offering parts for sale.

I bought a 65 D100 about 6 years ago, kind of an impulse purchase as it went cheap. I paid $400. Got it running, still have it and it has sorta grown on me.

I installed a power steering kit from CPP.

Gear box bolted in great, I used a federal pump. I had the column out so I cleaned it up and installed a bearing in the bottom of the tube instead of the bushing. Got rid of a lot of slop in it. The only thing I don’t like with the kit is it has very little boost at idle. I checked pump pressure and output, nothing wrong with that. I installed a new king pin kit with lower thrust bearings (originally the 1/2 ton has thrust washers). That helped a little. It is still way better than the manual steering.

I've sent two messages to CPP asking if their power steering conversion kit works with the 318 Poly. I read somewhere that the CPP power steering conversion kit has multiple issues getting the pump alignment with the 318 Poly.

My wife has always wanted a "step side" pickup as a classic to enjoy. Power steering is a deal breaker here if I can't confirm the conversion is possible (within my limited capabilities).

Thanks for your information and feedback.

I had two factory power assist trucks that I went through and got working right. A lot of work and they were still slow ratio. Nice to see there is a more modern kit now.

Some day maybe ?
I want to build a 68-71 D100
do a "dude tribute", but do it my way
or the same years W100 PowerWagon (If I could find one)
either has to be a shortbed sweptside too

bucket list sort of deal

I want to do the Gen 3 Hemi swap, full Challenger/Charger
full Independent style drivetrain & suspension
probably in a manual trans too...

Buy an old wrecked but good drivetrain Charger/Challenger
to do the conversion, seems like it would be the best way to go
hopefully some good interior/computer drive system parts too
adapt them to the old rig

I just bought the gear box with the pitman arm, rag joint was separate. I used a poly 318 P/S pump that I had, hoses were made at a local hydraulic shop.

I would bet they have no idea the difference from a LA318 to a poly.
