will this help some one decode my motor?

9 = model year of the car it was in = 1969
F = assembly plant (don't know what it is off hand)
The six digits are the sequence number and that would be the "numbers matching" part you would find on the VIN.

E383 = would be installed in a 69 car. The block casting date might be 1968.
2 18 might be the assembly date but don't remember off hand. Don't know what the other 2R is.

The "R" is for regular fuel which means the engine was a 2 barrel.
