Gotta hang up the charger for a while....

I agree with the above poster @tlt23
just fix the rocker & floor etc.
a lot less hassles & teardown, plumbing, parts replacing
parts swapping, "painting", also wiring etc.

unless the whole cab is ****, then do a cab swap

I'd think it would be not too bad of a job

Your 2 trucks are only worth the sum of their parts at this point. Sell them both...and Quickly! Trucks like these are money pits. Don't do it to yourself, Life is too short. Buy her a newer operational truck and be done with it man.

I see you also live in the rust belt of Illinois. My guess is, if the cab looks like that, the frame isn't to far behind. Make sure you do a thorough inspection before dumping to much money into it . They like to rust out at the very front of the frame, where it is boxed, and also at the rear leaf spring mounts. Rust can be a bitch here . As me how I know.

Kern must be home alone right now ! I would advise against his way serious injury or death may /will occur
My Wife knows me and knows when I am joking. She is also confident enough to deal with a confident man. A strong, rational woman.... (Yes, they do exist)...wants the truth, she wants a man that is not a wimp or pushover.
This is no reflection on the OPs situation. Maybe the Wife is a fine lady that thinks fairly and rationally.
I made jokes about being a baller but in reality, a man should not have to give in to the wife all the time.

Yall act like I don’t miss my truck too psshhhh @Kern Dog i knew you you were being you (although ya seem a bit offended at the end there ) lol the truth is the 03 hemi needs a rebuild. The 340 in the charger likely needs a rebuild the more I dig into it. The Cummins is just some rust repair and dedication lol seems like the easiest path to me. (And I spent 4K having the trans built about 3 months before the floor gave out and I’m a lil salty) and I’m gonna put a flat bed in it too. It’ll be cool

What a crazy weekend so far! I had no clue I’d get this far this fast? It’s been mid 90s the past two days but I’ve been sweating out there to get my damn truck back! Now Im going to do a quick scale down and. Paint of the frame then slap the new cab on! That dash was silly... from what I could see the wiring looked the same but all the forums swear you have to swap out the diesel dash oh wee crazy 2 days!

Neat project.

"Paint it black and put it back"

I just said that exact quote yesterday, while working on an old rusty challenger.

Another long, but thankfully not as hot weekend. I made killer progress and even had it running after getting the dash wiring plugged back in. I have run into some issues. I’ve noticed my dash is getting power somehow from my temp display console wiring harness. It’s even bypassing g the key but it’s not in full accessory. I’m only seeing a few warning lights ( air bag, oil and wait to start) but no ratio or hvac. When I turn the key everything acts normal. I know it’s getting the power from the temp harness because unplugging that only will make the truck act normal. (Accessory turns on with key all start up checks go normal) so it’s digging through wiring I go! Also the third brake light is constant on. I had to unplug the body harness to shut it off.

Welp... the first half of the electirical issue is solved but I’m still fighting my indicator lighting.. turn signals, brakes, 4ways are all not working. The wipers(on the turn signal lever as well) and the headlight/tail lights do work. And the cab third brake light is constantly on. Thankfully the ignition issue was a simple(I’m a dumbass) fix... I sent a screw through the temp harness when installing see exhibit A haha
