Grasshopper 69 RR Full Restoration

Is there any way you can get in contact with the state DMV. Maybe they can point you in the right direction on the rivets. I've seen some advertisments in the MCG mag.

Pricey...but when you need them???

I know what you're saying about the VIN tag.. rest assured we are NOT looking to alter any data on the car... but the radio isn't the only area that has problems on the stock dash, and the owner has tasked me with going to the new dash. Need to find a way to get the original rivets or we are going to be cutting an expensive dash to move the VIN tag (and even then we may not end up with it in the 1000% perfect OEM spot). I know there's places that make the rosette rivets that came on early chevy's. Someone's got to have a lead on the mopar rivets.

hey some states can be real picky on vin removal and replacement..great metal work holy sh...t nice work.!

Been a while since an update again... been plugging along! Got the floor pans done, interior panels done, dash repaired, engine bay done detailing, all exterior sheet metal done, subframe connectors and torque boxes installed, front suspension was powdercoated and rebuilt, rear end was painted, new leaf springs, car back on it's wheels, now we are doing final bodywork and pre-fitment of all components before spraying the exterior of the car. Been fitting windows, chrome, handles, door lock mechanisms, jaming everything... NEARLY ready to finish our part of the car up.

WOW!
Im going to shoot myself now after seeing all of the great work you've done! LOL!
I feel like a total dummy!

Anyway, awesome job!
That thing got a Hemi in it?

No,just a 383. Nothing overly rare about the car other than sentimental value to the owner.

Sorry about the slow updates... been busy getting this beast back together. Exterior bodywork is done, engine compartment is done, interior floors are all done. Got the K member powder coated along with all of the front end parts. New brakes, spindles, bearings, brake assemblies. Car has been back on it's own weight for a couple months now, finally got to do final bodywork and have been smoothing A-Pillars, Door openings, trunk opening, and visible interior lips of all of the wheel houses. The owner is running behind on powerplant, tranny, and wiring, but the interior panels are all done along with the seats and the headliner... just waiting on final exterior paint before installing them. Deck lid was off of a Belvedere (I think) so lots of holes had to be welded up and the RR emblem holes installed. Rockers and drip rails have all been detailed getting ready for final exterior paint. Looking forward to seeing it shiny. :)

Ok.. ongoing discussion with the owner of the RR... the car has double 99's on the fender tag. Behind the rear seat, near the passenger speaker opening facing forward written in black was "S.P. ORANGE - 3" (You can see it in the upper left corner of this pic from when we were inprocessing the car).

The owner wants to paint the car black. We've been adamently trying to talk the customer into going with the original orange, but so far haven't gotten him completely convinced. We currently haven't gone too far to not paint the original color, but will be too far along very soon. How wrong is it to paint this car black in your guys' opinions?DSC_0014.jpg

at the end of the day, it's his car, his $$. The orange would be great, but the morons asking where Bo & Luke are would get old fast.
fantastic job. somehow that new full floor pan just looks great.

It came out great, but not without some finessing. You've got about 1/8" to play with to get it in through the door opening. Takes 3 guys to get it in and out without tearing stuff up, and it had to go in and out over a dozen times to get everything ready for final weld. :)

I wondered if a full pan would fit in a Post car.

I would say Friday, but Marc is now "The Man" as far as gigs go, and he's got one somewhere friday night. Maybe next Fri?

Musicians.... pffft!

The car is looking good. I'm looking forward to seeing it all one color.

Sorry for the slow updates... been painting and assembling like crazy. Some teaser pics... check out the "shop pic".. lower left corner is a tire.

Does anyone know how to install these "Rear Window Retainer Clips"? They are the alligator teeth headliner retainer clips around the rear window opening. We didn't take them apart, and got these (a few) in a bucket of misc pieces but try as we may, we don't see how they go in. Also, where can we find some more at? Thank you in advance!
