The video was uploaded to youtube in 2008. It was made in 1985 out at NAS Sigonella, Italy. Back then we used to greet arriving crews with a case of beer when they landed, we used to play landing roulette by marking out 12 places (one for each member of the crew) on one of the main mount wheels, and whoever's name was closest to the ground when we parked won the money we all threw in a pot. We used to send new officers out to run around under the MAD boom with a fire axe by telling them we needed to check the MAD system, or send them in for gram ink for the acoustic stations, which didn't use ink. We used to buzz cruise ships when we found them so the ladies could flash us. We used to go on dets, and if you met a girl but couldn't get your own room, you could take her back to the plane, take the mattresses out of the rack, and lay them on the floor.
Sadly, the guys flying today can't do any fun stuff like that anymore, and worse, their operational missions nowadays. Who wants to map whale migrations or oil spill flow patterns for 12 hours?
