Hello everyone I found the original block for my gtx .Can I use the rods from a 76 version. The rods from the super commando were beefier. What about the crank i think they were steel. It is a 68 gtx.

You can use any RB type rod. No difference in "Super Commando" vs std 440s unless you had the 44+6, or a cop car. And those rods were heavier - no stronger. So use any "LY" rod you have and you're good. Crank would have been forged steel in '68. More than likely cast steel in '76. If you want the factory look with the cast crank, have the 440 internally balanced when it's rebuilt and use the early neutral harmonic dampener. The cast is plenty strong for most 440 applications.
