Just finished the Hella conversion in my 69RR. I ran around a about 6mos. and thought they were pretty effective without installing relays. Well, last week my lights flickered and figured I better do something about it. I checked the connections and the wiring was getting warm. After doing some research, I found the 14 gauge wiring that runs to headlamps is too small for the headlamp upgrade. I went to the local part store to buy some relays and pigtails. I was not impressed by how they looked. Very shade tree mechanic looking. So I surfed the net. I found on Amazon a 5 relay kit with pigtails and nice looking sealed housings with mounting brackets for 25.00. I wired them up and hid the relays under the battery box holder. I gave me enough wiring to pull the relay and pigtail out in case the relay needs to be serviced. I ran a 12 gauge positive wire from my starter relay and tucked it along the wiring that runs along with the positive battery cable. You really can't see it and looks very sanitary. The lights are working even better than before. I would have never done this upgrade without being a part of the B Body Forum and reading this thread and others. It is great to be a part of a group that has been there and helps each other out. Thanks!
