Heater box, do I dare chance?

I can get photos of mine later today. Not 100% sure I have it right but once I start it (few weeks) I will know if it is right.

Thanks.
How are you coming along with your steering column?
I tried to find the thread but lots patience.

Here is a pic of my column from my 70.
It has a double spline at the pink mark.
It must mate up with the correct double wide groove on the steering box shaft.

I have not given a crap since I got on far enough to push it in and out of the garage :)

Got the overhaul kit in the mail today.
Hopefully the heater core and evaporator are done no later than Tuesday.

What do I do with the motor? It turns good. If it works when I put 12 volts to it, all she good correct?View attachment 397095

Pull the 2 nuts off and split the halves. You can clean it up, look for shorting due to the cloth insulation disintegrating and see how much of the brushes are left. Can also polish up the slip ring with some 1000 grit.

I got everything put back together.

I have a coup less of uncertainties.
First. There is a T in the vacumn line that connects to the back of the actuator that opened and closes the large door on the triangular part of box directly in front of blower. It appears to be a harder thicker type of rubber. Not sure if it goes through the firewall to vacumn canister. Or if it is designed to go to nothingView attachment 401495

Secondly, there is a small partial hose coming from the plug. I originally thought this hose went through firewall to vacumn canister. Not so sure now. It doesn't appear to be same type of hose as the one in question above. So I doubt that this went to that.View attachment 401496 View attachment 401497

I hooked it up to a 2amp charger. It ran great.
I drilled a small hole in the back of the housing. Just big enough to get a red straw into and sprayed a touch of lubricant. I was extra careful not to get any filings in. After a small shot of fluid film I plugged it with a small amount of silicone. Will paint it tonight.

I also applied some silicone around where the wires enter the motor. (The original gaskets needed some help).

Sorry. I'm not following.

Ok, yours has been modified. The only Tee is down under by the floor board. There should be 2 restrictors in the lines going to the valve in my photo. There is no tee up on top of the box.

All.

The bottom pics. With the T.
The actuator on mine, the nipped on the backside goes to the plug, but appr. Halfway there it Ts. And the T is just a length of hose that apparently goes nowhere.

My other issue is at the plug. There is A line that was severed. I'm guessing it went through the firewall, maybe they both did.

Maybe the T went to the plug, It appears as though they are two different thickness of vacumn line though.

Do you have close ups of the restrictors?

I think someone put vacuum directly to one of the vacuum actuators to hold it in one position. The vacuum from the engine does not go to any actuator directly, it always goes through the button switch valve.

Look at my first photo. You can see the port that is cut off on yours is the one that goes on to the firewall on mine. The restrictors are just small plastic things that look like vacuum line couplers. Not much to look at.

I know what the restrictors are because they talk about them in the manual.

On to the firewall? I was thinking, the one that's cot off at the plug (on mine) went through the firewall to the vacumn canister.
Is that what you mean?

I might just try to plug the other one.

The radiator repairman who cleaned and tested the core told me that it had been repaired once prior.
I wouldn't doubt that things got improperly reassembled at some point prior to me purchasing the car

Yes the cut off one is the one that goes to the engine for vacuum.

I got the steering column put back in.
Got the flex hose. Passenger side attached with the J-hooks.
And the insulation glued to the heater box.

Is there supposed to insulation on the inside lower firewall on a Super Bee?
If so do you remove where the heater box insulation will be against firewall?

There is insulation up by the wiper mechanisms.

Look through my build thread I've got some pictures of the firewall with all of the insulation without the AC box

Thanks Jim. It appears my inside firewall already has the necessary insulation.
Looks like yours, only not nIceland painted. Lol

I had just enough hose to effectively splice the vacumn line that goes through firewall.

I reattached the heater box to the firewall.
Went well.
Before I could get any further. The power flashed at my shop.
I put all my vehicles away just as it started to downpour. Pretty intense thunderstorm goin on. Thought I heard it hail a couple of times
Hopefully tomorrow is productive too.

Placed some of the ducting under the dash. Was rather taxing. I didn't remove the ducting. The previous owner did, so it was trial and error. Got it in though.
Did a few things on the other side of the firewall as well.

Placed the grommets and hoses to the AC/Heating system.

Have a few questions.
20170307_190623.jpg
That yellow Grommet in the center of the picture has 2 small holes in it. But there's only one vacumn line. Is the 2nd hole for the thermocouple (if that's what the thin, hollow copper tube going to front of heater box is)?
Or does the thermocouple stay inside the car, and the 2nd hole is for some thing else?
