Hellcat...WWWWOOOOWWW!!!

You don't have to give them any juice in a corner to loop one. Driving one would tell ya that. They'll change directions on a smooth, straight road...without judicious throttle control.
I was changing lanes on the interstate at 70, and I hit it. It moved almost 2 lanes. 2nd time out.
I was pretty careful merging onto the freeway. It honestly made realize I don’t NEED that kind of power…but it is super cool. The whine of the supercharger get my adrenaline pumping.

The Tesla model S ‘plaid’ is no joke. I’m not an electric car guy at all but I can respect performance and those things accelerate like crazy.
 
Awesome cars for sure. Some day I would eventually like to get a B5 blue H.C. non-wide body. I can't stand the 4x4 bushwacker fender flares. However, it seems that the majority of them are wide bodies.
I will more than likely just build a newer boosted drivetrain for my current 12 Challenger R/T for half the price once the current stock drivetrain gets worn out..

Agree hate the bolted on flare look. Love my 2015 HC.
 
I like the Challenger and Charger Hellcats, but I think I want the Jeep or Durango version.
As for the Tesla, I saw a guy with one at Irwindale, who clearly had never seen a drag race, let alone do one, try out his new Tesla (might have been a plaid, I don't know how to tell)
He couldn't find the starting line without help, didn't know where the finish line was, didn't know how to tell when it was time to go.
His second attempt was a 6.70-something, equivalent to a mid-low 10 second 1/4mile pass.
He was quicker and faster than the two hellcats that were there that day too.

And I still don't want one.
 
Last month at Mecum Las Vegas, I went on the Dodge thrill ride. They were using electric chargers. The acceleration was amazing. The lack of of a screaming Hemi engine made the ride seem kinda bland. Like eating a ribeye, that wasn't seasoned with salt and pepper before cooking.

It would be fun to drive one, I had a Scat Pack for awhile with the manual transmission. It felt like it wanted to loop itself around a few times without much effort. Once calmly driving after a rain and as I straightened out after a left turn and barely accelerated the rear just said nope and came around, luckily the foxbody mustang reflexes kicked in and I caught it and kept going.
Even on a dry day topping out 2nd gear at wot in a straight line I could feel the rear getting out of line compared to the front wheels.

I could see why they get wrecked left and right.
 
I had a 2015 manual hellcat, what a blast, especially when you hold the traction control button for 5 seconds while your stationary, turns off all the safety stuff. I sold that a few years ago and bought a '16 automatic. Now I know why people wreck those, you don't have the power/torque shut off like with the clutch, IMO it has a half second delay after getting into it, and letting off the throttle, which will shoot you into whatever the car is aiming at. Practice, practice, practice, and tire money and you'll have it. :lol:
 
I'm at the point, where besides my "drag" cars...I don't care about the old stuff, anymore. I've had one actual OEM restored car [69 Charger 500], and it bored me to tears. I've spent 50+ years looking at/owning all the old stuff. I've moved on, and my new cars do everything much better, with lots more comfort.
Even my `cuda ragtop with the 6.4/nag combo, is better than it ever was as an old muscle car.

I will not go willingly into the boring electric stuff, though. No senses connection from the car to the body/brain.

And drove it to Richard Petty's garage in N.C. got 24mpg. All around best car out there hands down, IMO

Bought my ‘15 in June of ‘18 with 650 miles on it. B5 M6. I’ve got about 7.5k on it now. Here it is along side my ‘71.

At WOT she’ll consume 1.4 gallons of gas per mile and the 6th to 7th gear change (A8) takes place at 171MPH with 3:09 gears.
 
I have a Challenger with a 392. And I think it's perfect. My friend bought a leftover Hellcat last year. He let me drive it and wow. That thing is a different beast. It'll make you feel young.
 
I've raced a 500hp car that was about 2500 lbs with me in it, maybe equivalent to 900 hp in a 4500 lb car.
I have a feeling a hellcat would still be a bit scary. Traction was not a problem in my car, and handling was non-existent. Both can be sources of problems with a Cat.
