Mopartians.
How have I not heard that one before?
That's almost as good as when my son called it a midlife Chrysler.

My first car was a 1973 Satellite Sebring Plus. It was bought by my father new in 1973, and he gave it to me when I turned 16. It had a 318, with Torqueflite Slapstick automatic. It had what I believe was a rare, front disc, rear drum MANUAL brakes.

My dad commuted with that car from a town in Orange County, NY, to Manhattan, in the snow, no A/C, for close to 15 years The 318 was unbeatable and to my knowledge, never caused him a problem.

We had little money growing up and I did a homemade, horrifically embasrrassing body and paint job. It looked good from about 30 feet away. I'll try to find some pics of it somewhere.

Howdy from Indiana! Pictures are a requirement!

Yes. By 73 Chryslers were really modern cars.
I mean they weren't fuel injected with ABS backup cameras and impact zones and self locking doors and oh nevermind.
But the 318 and the car were well built and I'm guessing those front disk were more common than you think. Both my 73 and 74 A bodies came with power disk.
I converted to manual for daily driving.
I picture your father as a working class Don Draper.

My father also bought a 73 satellite new. Petty blue. 318 He would let me take it to the drive in on Sat.night. Man that car could burn rubber. Lol.
