I am in the process of taking the motor and tranny out of my c-body to use in my b-body and have every thing I though ready to pull but it now seems that the tranny mount that is hooked to the torsion bars needs to come off. Is that what I need to do to get this out? On the B-body it dropped out easy small bar on the c-body it is huge and has the t-bars. Or is there an easier way???? thank you so much for your help:eek:

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to say? Are you dropping the engine and trans togather out from the bottom or the top?

It is much easier to drop the engine and trans from the bottom by unbolting the K frame. However you have to have the right equipment to hold the engine in place while unbolting all of it, a dolly for it to rest on when out, and something to lift the body high enough once it is out so you can get the engine/trans assembly out from under the car once it is on the floor.

Of course no matter how you take the trans out (attached or unattached to the engine) you have to unbolt the trans/body mount. When you say it is hooked to the torsion bars do you mean that it is loose and caught on one of the torsion bars and is holding it from dropping out?

The trans mount is not factory attached to the torsion bars, maybe you mean the cross member?

Thank you for your reply

Thanks 696, I am hoping to pull the engine out through the top as I did on the b-body , the guy that was helping me said that it looked like the torsain bars had to come out to do this? to me it looks like it just unbolts without any torsain bar problems? please advise thanks again soo much! best wishes! CD p.s. does the crossmember need to come out to do this?

You need to unbolt the tranny from the mount and the mount from the cross member. There are more bolts to it on a c-body. I pulled my last engine & tranny from a c-body (out the top) without even taking the hood off.
