Bought this 66Bel that had a total resto and a 440 put in.
Trying to determine what this 440 was out of and what year it is.
The engine has heavy coats of paint, so I can’t make out all numbers
Even using goof off and light sanding, but here is what I have found
On the side of the block I found 3c138585 and 3698830 440 9 DN
On the front pad j 440
9 26 2

again maybe missing some digits due to paint and eye sight

thanks

Thanks any idea what model car it could have come out of ? Is it a decent block ?

3C means 1973 model year car built at the Jefferson Plant. Jefferson only built Chryslers and Imperials so it’s out of one of those two makes.

The blocks are all fine. If you're building a real race motor, you need to sonic check the cylinder wall thickness. Other than that just run it.
