Hey guys i'm new here, but i've gone on this website before and have learned a lot and am really appreciative of sites like these, but anyways right now i'm in the middle of swapping the engine and trans out of my 75 royal monaco with a 400 (i know it's not the coolest car in the world but its a 2 door and thats good enough for me lol) but i have a trans with a reverse manual valve body out of a 70 roadrunner (727), and i couldve sworn they were the same trans but i was wrong. The only difference is there's a bolt hole for the torque shaft bracket on the bellhousing, and no bolt hole on the roadrunner trans. I'm at a loss of what to do now, because there's nowhere to place the bracket!! Is it as simple as ordering another bracket or do I need a whole new column shifter setup? I'll take more pictures tomorrow, but this is the bracket thats supposed to bolt up to the trans and attached to the torque shaft

Can you fabricate adapter bracketry to use the horizontal "ear" on the bell area as the attachment?

Okay, after looking at a bunch of old service manuals I realized the difference between the shift linkages and torque shaft brackets through the years, and since the original trans was a 75 and the new one is a 70, i came to the conclusion that i need a new column shifter linkage setup that'll use the ear of the transmission as mike explained. For anyone else that gets confused by this i'll put the pictures i found in the service manuals of the setups. The first picture is the setup that I have, and the second is the one I need. Hope this helps. Oh by the way I tried fabricating the bracket that I had with what limited tools I had to get it to hang off of the ear of the trans, but it didn't work. The torque shaft would run into the bellhousing and it wouldn't reach 2nd or 3rd gear, so i ordered the new setup. Thanks for your help mike,
