Just for grins I've been thinking about swapping out the 383 for a reproduction 426 Hemi in my 65' Belvedere II. Any help as to what all is involved?( other then a lot of money:icon_smile:)

thanks, Bob

Mounts and exhaust will get one bolted right in. There may be more, but I think that's the two main thingies.

Anybody do it? Sure, chrysler did.Its a tight fit, I know that. Manual steering might be necessary. not sure. That and the proper motor mounts will be needed. Oh, and a cross ram is mandatory:hello2:

The swap is pretty standard go to Schumacher or Mega parts for mounts. You will need a set of really good headers TTI fit right. Then a few modifications to the ears on the K member for tube clearance is necessary. A skid plate is important, larger torsion bars. You may have to invert the passenger shock tower to the wheel well if you use cast valve covers. A manual steering box will make your life easier and now just have to decide if you are going to build the hemi from Parts or use a crate motor. You will find the crate motors are not very good. A cross ram looks nice but run really terrible on the street. A single 4 barrel will make you happy and then you ahve to deal with reinforcing the K frame. average cost is around 20,000 to convert. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking it will be done for less!

Funny thing them HEMI"s.Either you have one or you want one.
It's all about the valve covers:blob1:

Here's a 65 Belvedere II with the 440 installed. Schumacher engine mounts, stock exhaust manifolds, and tti dual exhaust make it a fairly straight forward install.

There was a guy over on FABO had a small block in something.....some kinda A body. He took some early Hemi valve covers and made brackets and bolted them on top of the small block valve covers. I know.....it sounds redneck as all hell, but he actually did a good job on it and it turned out looking much better than you'd think. I was actually impressed.

Yep, it's called an A990 car.
