Mite be better post for restomod but here we go
Going to put EFI on my 383. And looking to see what others have done/had problems with
Looking at both the sniper and fitech price point about the same.
Already mod the tank for intank pump.
Any input would be great
Thanks

I have researched the available EFI products for my project, a 1970 Super Bee, 383, auto trans car. My build will be light, around 400 hp. I like the Holley Sniper system and will use it with their Dual Sync distributor to control timing. I have based my decision on reviews on Summit and Jeg's, as well as the postings by member Sweet5ltr . I know there are other members here that have installed the Sniper and some other systems. Hopefully they can provide some input. Have fun.

I used FI Tech on my first build. Holley Sniper was not out yet. I have been happy with FI Tech. I have a second FI Tech for my Charger (sort of a leftover from my 442). I use a Mallory Unilite in the Olds and have one on the shelf for the 440. I wanted to use the timing control of the FI system, but finding a reasonably priced dual trigger Olds distributor is impossible.
The only other consideration is the timing table of the system is only 8 entries. I do not know how the Sniper is set up in that regard.
I do like the cooling fan control circuits. Saves from installing yet another thermo sensor.

Don't want to be the one to point fingers Butch, so since you only have 6 posts, try this: In the upper right of the page, there is a SEARCH box. If you enter "fitech" you will get 183 posts on that particular unit. I didn't check, but "sniper" will probably get you similar posts. Good luck with your search...

Go with the Sniper, you’ll have more control over it and it will control so much more stuff. Don’t discount the Terminator, even though it costs more.

Basically the same unit, fitech actually has more features like transbrake settings,I believe that’s only on the mean street unit. Dual fan controls. What I like better about the sniper is the display.

I've been very happy with the Sniper unit I installed back in January. Although I have had a bit of a learning curve with getting the tune right for cold starting and afterstart fuel enrichment. It's done a good job of learning the fuel curve after warming up though. Runs much better than I could ever get the 440 running with the old holley 750 carb that was on it. Also, I need to call their tech line and send my display screen back for a replacement. Seems like it's got a loose wire somewhere in the cable where it attaches to the screen(it's a direct connection, no plug into the screen, just a cable going in), when the cable moves at all the screen will go nuts and start doing things on it's own. Lately I've just been running it without the touchscreen connected at all.

Zack,
School me here. What 'more control' and 'control so much more stuff' does the Sniper allow. I have the dual throttle body FiTech system and can't think of anything I can't control in the fuel system or timing...Not trying to be argumentative, just looking to increase my knowledge.:)

I just bought the Fitech dual quad 1200hp setup. I have not set it up yet, so I cannot give any input yet,but I will let you know when it is on the car.

I have the terminator set up, but the sniper is damn near the same. You can control boost, trans, fan(s), timing, water/meth, turbo, nitrous, data logging, real time adjustments, can create your own fuel table and some others that I’m forgetting. Most of those listed are for the terminator system, while the sniper is geared more for the person that wants efi but doesn’t know how to use it to it’s full potential.

A lot of people use the Dominator from Holley, well the Terminator is the same with the free upgrade to V4. ****, there’s so much about this system that I’m still trying to grasp.

Well, except for controlling an electrically operated transmission (other than their LS unit) the FiTech can do pretty much the same. I would venture a guess that MOST people who purchase an EFI kit for a street, or even a street/strip car will never use the majority of those features. For the few that will, okey dokey. The beauty of all these retrofits is the self learning component. You do a few cursory inputs on the hand-held device (supplied) and the system takes care of the rest. If you want to fine tweak it, go ahead; however, it's not necessary...
