One my favorite hymns for this week, in particular for Friday. There are different versions of this, especially for the second verse, some with more verses, but they generally differ due to translation differences as the original hymn predates our nation. I encourage you to look for other versions also, and really digest the words. We truly are not deserving of this grace.




I also like this one for Sunday, in particular the 4th verse:

A Good Friday Prayer I got on my phone this morning, thought I would share with you all.

Jesus,

I grieve that the torture and sorrow You endured on the cross were necessary to save humanity.

Because You didn't want me enslaved to fear, anxiety, or sin- You sacrificed Yourself so that Love could win.

It's Love that hung upon that cross and gave up everything to rescue me. "It is finished" was a cry of victory, because you defeated everything that held me in captivity.

Because of Your sacrifice, I can experience intimacy with You forever. Thank You! Help me to know You more, and to reach people with the hope found in You.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.
