i have a few gallons of unused latex primer........ guess where it's going? lizard skin is quite pricey,, thanks for the awesome idea!

Thanks for the idea to touch up the base coat with an oil base before applying the water base. I'd say we're even.

It's official, my homemade lizard skin is a heck of a thermal barrier as well. I mentioned that a few years ago I reached under the carpet while driving and burnt the hell out of my hand. Never measured the exact temp, but floorboard had to be well above 200*F above the exhaust.
Just used the IR temp sensor to check... 154*F after an hour or so of driving. Warm to the touch.
