In my '76 Charger SE it has 318 and its starts great when the motor is cold but if I drive around with it for a while it will just crank and I have to floor it to get it to start. I'm assuming the carb it a little rich? haven't had this problem till about a couple of years ago it starting acting weird off & on. I don't drive this car alot so maybe the carb is getting a little funky inside? I put stabilizer in the fuel to help with gas breakdown. My current setup is a all stock motor(smog motor) with MP dual plane intake and a 570CFM Street Avenger I am running a 1 inch spacer also cause the linkage hits the intake where the orginal automatic choke would go. I have thought of swapping the spacer for a phenolic one thinking that would help with heat dissipation. I have run this setup for about 12 years now and haven't had any real problems but I know the fuel formulations have changed alot in the last few years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi1
I have mentioned this before on the forum...
The new gasoline has ethanol AND other strange additives ion it that make it preferential to a fuel injected system. A "closed" system.
Our cars are carbureted, and this new fuel is causing problems on non-ideal running carbureted automobiles.
My advice to you is to get your carb professionally rebuilt.

On my 383, I did the phenolic spacer and wrapped the fuel lines to no avail. Finally replaced the valley pan with the blocked heat cross-overs and it seems to be a lot better now.

Phenolic or wood spacer should help alot. Ron

this is a too rich problem, just had that same problem with mine
