The fuel gauge is reading empty in my beloved 1973 dodge charger. I did just reinstall the entire dash so is it just a loose connection? i have a blue wire hanging down, is that it?

was it working before you put the cluster back in? was the wire hanging there before you put the cluster back in? details bud

sounds like human error

yes, it could be very well the blue wire hanging around... 90 degrees female bullet terminal ? assuming is Rallye cluster

blue--- fuel
gray---- oil
violet--- temp

there is another blue wire that could be hanging around, which is a RUN circuit source, but is female SPADE terminal, and is positive... sender drives negative ( ground )

hahaha yes there is gas in it, full tank!....i think its not a ralley cluster but it does have a female end. the temp is also not reading there is another wire hanging down with a black connector on it....where do they go? stupid question but i must have looked ten thousand times

Nacho nailed it, those need to be hooked up again on the back of the cluster...blue is fuel and the black I am sure is temp.
Al

no, black is not temp, temp is violet

black is AS FAR I RECALL the source to voltage limiter, but if is not on its position, you shouldn't have any of the gauges reading ( nor gas or temp )

is it a terminal like this ?:

if is, or something similar, being a brass piece ( brass pieces are slightly diff ), mostly sure jumped out from the master conector to printed circuit board

blue goes to the J cavity ( around 3 o'clock )

black goes to the D cavity ( around 10 O'clock )

excuse my stupidity i know nothing about electrical work, what do you mean by J and D cavity?

The round master conector to printed circuit board is, or SHOULD be labeled with leters on cavities... at least my 74 was

if not, I gave you the clock positions
