How and why did you get into Mopars?

My first car, at age 12 was a 1952 Cranbrook four-door that I paid ten dollars for - and drove home! My second was a '52 Cambridge that was a smooth runner, but the interior was trashed. Another ten dollar car, and drove IT home, too. That was my first engine swap, as well.

My Cambridge was spotless clean and interior was perfect. If you were really HIGH.... you could cruise down the road with no worries arm hanging out the window like John Travolta in Pulp Fiction..... :headbang:

My dad was a mopar man, I was brought home from the hospital after being born in a 65 Plymouth Valiant Signet, 273 4 barrel 4 speed car. My dad had a model A with a 392 hemi in it with 2 X 4's all under the model a hood. Fun sleeper.. people thought it probably had a sb chevy but when he opened the hood all you could see was Hemi valve cover.

My uncle during this same time was tearing it up running NHRA stock eliminator with a 62 Savoy wagon and later a 74 Dart Sport and finally a 99 Dodge Dakota. He is the one who got me firmly hooked on drag racing. My cousin inherited the Super Stock Dakota after my uncle passed away and Mopar has always been part of the family. I have had my own share of challengers, Cuda ' s, dart's. .. countless trucks... too and even a Jeep or 3... along the way. I'm not a mopar or no car guy, I have driven my share of econo-shitboxes, and chevy/ford trucks. But the Mopar's are where my heart is.. The rest are just transportation. .. nothing more than getting me from place to place, if they get wrecked or stolen no big loss it ain't my Mopar.

Convenience is really why I have a Mopar. I was looking for an old car, not really anything specific. I looked at everything from a 1950 Chevy BelAir, to an 1980 Camaro. I was going to look at a 72 Dart and a 66 Fairlane, when the Coronet kinda just feel in my lap. A guy at work was selling it and I'm very happy with it…

My Dad sold new cars from 1967 until he passed in 1995. I grew up hearing stories of Dodges and Plymouths he sold from 1970-73 in Sacramento CA. He moved around like many salesmen did, selling everything from Mopar to GM, Ford, Toyota, Volvo...
My first car was a 1969 Dart 318. I wanted a Charger after seeing the Dukes of Hazzard, but even in 1983 a Charger wasn't cheap or that easy to find. camaro? Mustang? Sure... you could find them for sale almost anywhere. I was once looking at a 70 Charger 500 in F8 with a 318, but the $1500 was beyond my Burger King limits. Oddly, that is the exact description of the 70 Charger I bought in March 2000. I often wonder what the chances are that it is the same car.

It was around 1970 and I was like 5. My Mother and I walked out to the parking lot after grocery shopping. A beautiful 69 Roadrunner pulls in next to our car and parks. A seemingly tall, slender and attractive brunette exits the car. My Mother being the friendly, love all people type, immediately strikes up a conversation with this Mopar Goddess about her gorgeous new Plymouth. She is excited to share with my Mother all the details about this Roadrunner. As the conversation nears the end, the lady reaches in through the window and activates the Meep Meep Horn. Being the enthusiastic child that I was, I went bananas. Finally, at 18 years of age, I purchased my first car which happened to be a 1973 Beeper. Love the Birds!!!!!!!!!

LOL 73 I was anticipating another ending when the goddess reaches through the window. After all mini-skirts were still somewhat popular back then...... :notworthy:

When I was a kid, my parents had a 68 Monaco Station wagon with a 440 in it. My older brother used to race people in it and never lost. (GM & Fords) When I was looking for my first car, i was originally looking at trying to get a 2nd Gen Camaro, but that Mopar experience was in my blood. In the middle of my search, a classmate put her 68 Barracuda up for sale at a good price. That's all she wrote. Have had one Mopar or another ever since.img013.jpg

Back in the 80s my father bought his first car. a 72 rr gtx. 440-4 4 speed lemon twist. Sold it when I was a baby (87/88). We had two pictures of the car. One with me sitting on the hood. 27 years later I finally bought it back. Now we have started a father son resto. Needless to say dad is quite happy!

I wanted something that would kick the **** out of everything else back in 1971. Liked the RR but then saw a GTX and that was it. If I could afford it that's what I was going to get. I drove the chevelles, gto, mustangs etc - but when I drove the GTX and got on it I bought it right then and there. I was hooked for life on Mopar. Never could bring myself to sell the car - even through all life's difficulties I kept the GTX. It's been 47 years now. Haven't looked back. Went through a complete ground up restoration the last 5 years. She's like new - but better and way faster. Almost a bit too much for me now. Scares the **** of me when I jump on it. Oh well - so does my wife ......!!

My father had a Ford fairmont coupe - 302 and auto - neat car, but the oil crisis of the early '70's hit, and he traded on a small 4-cyl Ford Escort. Always had Fords...so when I saw this page in a library at High School....I had to have one - or close to it.

Got hooked on that look, and not long after came the Dukes of Hazzard. Before long, I was searching for my own Charger, and it happened when I was 17. Found a '69 383, auto car, and the rest is history....once you get hooked on MoPar, it is really hard to even look at the opposition. :D

Was looking for a 67-69 Camaro in '84 at Ft Gordon and found a '67 427 4 speed for $1500. Before I could get the money, it sold. Was marching back to the barracks from class in AIT, when this black 1974 Charger drove by us; changed badges on the spot! Had a for sale sign in it, and I actually found the car, and bought it.

first car was a 62 dodge dart 330 in high school. 1966. put a 426 out of a 64 dodge into it....
Lots of fun kicking *** on fords and chevs....

Freshmen year in high school my father introduced me to mopars as we were looking for a father son project. Met a friend in my mechanics and technology class that so happen to have a 72 satellite, also a 75 big block duster for sale. We Bought the duster and the rest is history.

I wanted a American convertible from the later sixties or early seventies. A project car as thats all i could afford. My friend tells me about a 69 sport sat convert upstate NY that he knows about. I wind up buying the car. It was that simple and the rest as they say is history

Not sure if there was an "ah ha" moment, but age 4 or 5 I was pretty influenced by my favorite HotWheel of all time. Still have it, this is the actual one picture attached, wish I was psychic enough back then to keep the real cars too.

I think it resembles a 73-4 Charger, with a little 71 Cuda grill/bumper goin on.

They were just the meanest looking cars not to mention Mopar was the most creative company out there whether it be designing the 426 HEMI, winged cars or just the crazy paint colors and graphics. Coolest cars by a mile!

My first love was a 1970 Challenger... never did get one.

my parents owned various gms from 57 and 59 vettes
to a few different buick gs verts and a couple of mustangs tossed in.
they were cool cars in thier own rights and i even owned a stang and camaro at one time.
