would this workIf it's a '62 diff you're working on, it can be a pain. I used a pulley puller with extensions rigged onto it. Some heat and a few taps and the hubs popped right off. Then I had to press the drums off the hubs. Supposedly there is a tool for this procedure, but I made do with what I had.
I've seen the video already with the puller. The only problem i have is, 2 out of the 5 studs are broke off, and no they're not opposite each other all on same side. So would the puller still work?
Read this! Twice. Especially about the studs you will have to replace. Dan's the man on these '62s

Good news and bad news. First the good news. We got the drums off, axles pulled and the center section and during this process found out that we have a sure grip with 4.10 gears. Bad news is, the rounded part of housing I guess you could call it the pumpkin has a nice little hole in it from years of sitting in the back 40. Thinking about cutting that bowl out and maybe seeing if I can get new one made and weld it back in. Any thoughts? What I would do ... Assuming you wont be reusing the drum you can just flush cut the remaining studs and knock/pull the drum off and out of the way. Drill the center of the studs like the Crankshaft Coalition site suggested and knock the broken studs out the the way. Install some new studs ... reattach the puller and try to pull the hub again. Good luck.
