Tapered axle Bearings on Green bearing axle

And a full floating axle is even WAY better with two much larger tapered rollers on each wheel!
We should all be running 1 ton axles for safety.

Ball bearings have been used on just about everything except for Mopars until the early/mid 70's when the needle bearings came in. Ball bearings are not a bad bearing but many got them (Green bearings) after they sat on a shelf for years then put into service. That's the bad about them. Yeah, tapered are MUCH better but are pretty much over kill imo however, nothing wrong with overkill. Gotta look at all the other makes that ran ball bearings vs needle bearings.....you wouldn't think that needle bearings weren't good either but they fooled me over the years.....

Extolling the virtues of Green bearings seems to be the equivalent of . . . . . .

I did something like 30,000 miles on mine over the course of 21 years.....but hey, what do I know?

Mine went well over 300 miles......at the drag strip......and they were still good when I sold the car.

I noticed that later model 3/4 ton pickups have semi floating axles while the diesels have full floaters. My older (late 70's) 3/4 tons all had full floaters in them. Not sure but think Fords started using semi floating on their lighter duty 3/4 ton trucks some time back.

So here is food for thought I have a willwood rear disc brake kit on car ,
Now I remember why I went to Greens .
I believe it was required to run the disc brake kit with park brake inside the hat.
Uggh!
My memory is coming back , also had to return the Moser axles with screw in lugs for press fitt studs because I wanted to run fancy brakes ......
Never again!

Mentioned earlier, life is full of regrets. An ever-optimistic friend said you can view it more ways than one, similar to making mistakes. If you haven’t made any it could mean you haven’t done or accomplished anything. I found it food for thought, though his optimism has irritated me at times, lol.
