How does a mecum auction work?

My 2 cents...

Mecum is OK but can be hit-or-miss. I 've heard Barrett Jackson is better, but I don't have any experience with the later.

Whichever auction it is, you just need to be diligent and very careful. The excitement, noise, lighting, etc. are all intentional, and it's done for effect; it helps make these cars shine. You won't see what you've really bought until they're back at home in the garage.

These are old cars, and every day that goes by they get older. Even the best sorted-out car will likely have a few issues.

Always set a limit on what you're going to spend and remember the buyer's premium adds 10-12% to that amount. Also, don't forget shipping costs...

Sometimes you get lucky.

Sometimes you need to join an online forum to figure out how to fix all of the problems you just purchased.
