I had to be staring at this picture while reading 5wndwcpe's brain-twister thread. Since we obviously don't have enough confusion to go around, I figured I'd start another outlet for our various zaniness.

So, without further ado...the rules and gameplay:

  1. After looking at that photo, take a guess at what that motor is supposed to be.
  2. Try to name everything historically inaccurate on it, based on your guess as to what the motor is. There are THREE very specific things that are obviously inaccurate to any classic, original Mopar LA small block in this photo. Name them all.
For bonus points see if you can guess what the motor actually is. Peeking in my build thread = cheating, hence why bonus points = 0.

Hints:
  • It's not the one mismatched spark plug wire, modern Edelbrock carb, blue heater hose, aftermarket PCV valve, or the Hemi Orange smallblock. Obvious points are obvious.
  • Yes, this is almost A-body territory. But I put the engine in a B-body (and nope, not a valid "wrong" thing for the quiz). Nobody said it'd be easy. :p
Winner gets a virtual Mopar "M"-shaped cookie.

Correct observations, but not part of the three I had in mind. Keep looking :)

Carb with electric choke.
dipstick
hose clamps
blue hose
red plug wires
unpainted thermostat gasket
unpainted intake gasket or head surface on front of LH head and valve cover gasket on the RH side
coil
numerous bolts tightened after engine was painted
old fule line from pump to filter & new fuel line from filter to carb
unpainted PCV grommet

Edit: teflon tape on heater hose nipple

Nailed it, but there are two things missing from that list.

Hint: You already mentioned one indirectly. The other is beneath something twice identified as incorrect.

The heater hose is going forward instead of backward? Whats up with that?

Edit: are we supposed to be pointing out the intake may be an edelbrock?

How about the Fel-Pro blue intake gasket, or the connection at the temperature sender. Looks like it's made from a crimp connecter.

Heater is bypassed for now; have to replace one of the fittings on the firewall.

You're getting close with the intake. Very close. Once you figure it out, it'll also make another period-incorrect part stand out.
