2020 10th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - Are You Ready For Some NITRO?!!

Looks like Mother Nature was the Top Qualifier at the 2020 NHRA Midwest Nationals. The weather only permitted one round of Pro Qualifying, and only for Top Fuel and Funny Car. Both Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying positions will be filled by current point positions.
Because of this, only Top Fuel and Funny Car will have bonus point awards for qualifying at this event.
Based on this, here is how qualifying bonus points are for the 2020 NHRA Midwest Nationals:
12.5 71dartswinger (FABO)
11.0 Duster79 (FABO)
11.0 R413 (FBBO)
11.0 Back in Time (FABO)
11.0 alsant (FBBO)
11.0 cuda20 (FABO)
11.0 Nick2317 (FBBO)
11.0 stroked340 (FABO)
9.5 ocdart (FABO)
8.5 64BEL (FBBO)
7.0 Budnicks (FBBO)
7.0 memike (FABO)
7.0 SSG Karg (FABO)
1.5 johnnycuda (FABO)
0.0 TT5.9mag (FABO)

We have 15 players for the 7th event of the 2020 NHRA "Pick 'Em game season and 14 different driver combos made up of:
* 6 different Top Fuel drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There could be one head-to-head matchup in the 2nd round of eliminations if they all survive the opening round.
* 4 different Funny Car drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There could be one head-to-head matchup in the 2nd round of eliminations if they all survive the opening round.
* 4 different Pro Stock drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There could be one head-to-head matchup in the 2nd round of eliminations.
* 4 different Pro Stock Motorcycle drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There could be one head-to-head matchup in the 2nd round of eliminations, both in the upper bracket.

Good luck all!

This event should have been renamed the NHRA 'Crash Nationals'!
Leah Pruett's Top Fuel rail broke in half.
Alexis DeJoria's Funny Car turns into a roadster.
Kenny Delco goes for a wild rollover ride in his Pro Stocker.
And then the weather shuts down Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle eliminations halfway through.
I guess we'll need to wait and see when the remainder of the eliminations will be run before I can come out with updated points and standings.

The good news this weekend was Camping World coming aboard as a multiyear series title sponsor.
Truth be told, I never did like the taste of Mello Yello.

hopefully a better payout too...

really sad the state the NHRA has been in of late

Chinese Wuhan Flu aside... or in-spite of it

IMO it's a total "monkey ******* a football" scenario
the past couple of years'
barely field a full field of pros, unless it's US Nat.'s
fewer races for P/S & P/SM
(let them get/use some ******* downforce too)
that lame-*** T/F Harley shitshow, boring & too slow

I'd much rather see Pro-Mod & they're faster
then those 8 fucken' oil spewing Harleys

or air all of Factory shootout cars, would be nice

the fucken' lame announcers,
Tony (Cruz's peddling bros. needs to go/leave)
I wish they'd bring Mike Dunn back

constant preempted TV times & much more
even when there's barely any sports on TV

Competitionplus.com reported a rumor from Nitro Reports that Tony Stewart is buying safety equipment and planning to attend the Frank Hawley Drag Racing School. The end goal may be to climb into a Top Fuel car.
C+ says, "Stewart has ties to the drag racing community and has flirted in the past with the notion of racing a fuel car."
Now there's an attitude I'd like to see in drag racing. All his current NASCAR rides are top-notch.
This could get interesting.

NHRA released their 2021 schedule today. Take a look at the changes...

* Oct. 7-10 Texas Fall Nationals, Dallas, TX
* Oct. 29-31 Dodge Nationals, Las Vegas, NV
* Nov. 12-14 Auto Club Finals, Pomona, CA

Rumor is there will be another race scheduled for Fathers Day weekend in Bristol, TN.
All events, except for the U.S. Nationals, are 3 days. I'm guessing Pro Qualifying will continue to be 2 passes only on Saturday and final eliminations on Sunday. This will cut both hotel/food costs and racing costs (fuel and parts) from team budgets. I wonder what effect it will have on sponsorship budgets. It should also reduce NHRA staffing costs at events.
Will it allow more team participation or new teams? All we can do is wait and see.

I'd be weird not having Pomona start & end the seasons...

that's a messed up schedule IMO...

if they are going to do that "have more of the east coast races"
out there 1st

Like Charlotte Richmond Epping etc.
so the teams don't have to go back & forth so damn much
before coming back to the west coast or the western US

seems there's no longer any traditional race dates
except maybe for INDY US Nats, Vegas (even vegas has been moved)
& World Finals in Pomona
(of which won't even be in Pomona this year, 2020 it ends in Vegas)
maybe the western swing too, Mile High, Sonoma Seattle
that's if It even happens, this coming season 2021

how many P/S & P/SM races will there be,
that's messed up too
even less than last season & god forbid LIKE this season

beginning of the end IMO
if they keep screwing **** up, screwing with tradition & race events

No Joliet? Wow - that's one of the supertracks.

Announcement yesterday on NHRA.com says the remainder of Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle eliminations from the 2020 Midwest Nationals will be contested during qualifying runs next weekend at the Texas FallNationals.

There hasn't been very much orderly about 2020 but I'll do my best to keep this game in order...
First things first, so here are the game standings following completion (finally) of the weather-delayed Mopar Express Lane Midwest Nationals:

Congratulations to both 'Duster79' (FABO) and 'R413' (FBBO) for sharing the "Top Picker Eliminator" title for the 2020 Mopar Express Lane Midwest Nationals, the 8th event of the 2020 "pandemic-crazed" NHRA season, with very nice point totals of 171.0 points each. Their Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle picks both won their class and their Top Fuel and Funny Car picks both went to the final round of eliminations before losing.
'cuda20' (FABO) grabbed the runner-up spot with 141.0 points.

Here's where the bonus points were earned if you picked the right drivers:

Top Fuel
E.T. - Leah Pruett, 3.676 during Round 1 of eliminations
Speed - Tony Schumacher, 332.92 during qualifying

Funny Car
E.T. - Tommy Johnson Jr., 3.884 while winning the final round of eliminations
Speed - Matt Hagan, 333.00 while losing the final round of eliminations

Pro Stock
E.T. - Greg Anderson, 6.502 during Round 2 of eliminations
Speed - Erica Enders, 211.69 during Round 1 of eliminations

Pro Stock Motorcycle
E.T. - Matt Smith, 6.767 during Round 2 of eliminations
Speed - Matt Smith, 200.50 during Round 3 of eliminations

Here are the game point standings after the 8th event of the 2020 season:

876.5 - cuda20 (FABO) no change in the game standings
869.5 - Duster79 (FABO) no change
813.5 - R413 (FBBO) +3
791.0 - Back in Time (FABO) +4
790.5 - stroked340 (FABO) -2
761.5 - Budnicks (FBBO) +2
750.5 - memike (FABO) -2
742.5 - ocdart (FABO) +1

741.5 - Nick2317 (FBBO) -2
712.0 - alsant (FBBO) no change
676.5 - 71dartswinger (FABO) no change

570.0 - 64BEL (FBBO) no change
557.0 - SSG Karg (FABO) +1
538.5 - johnnycuda (FABO) -1

I'll give y'all a little time to digest this info and then post results from the AAA Texas FallNationals in the next couple of days.
