How about the Fel-Pro blue intake gasket, or the connection at the temperature sender. Looks like it's made from a crimp connecter.

That FelPro gasket is a clue.

I really haven't had time to booger about with that temp sensor, but a PO did splice a crappy quick connect plug on it; that's what you see.

This is more a case of "how well can someone spot something really obscure," rather than an exercise in originality (which might have made this too easy to begin with).

It couldn't be the incorrect part number on a pulley, because we cannot see that bit from the picture.

Bingo! That's an aftermarket Sanden air compressor bracket hanging off the front.

Nobody has figured out the biggie yet though...

Supposed to be a 340 four-barrel, and the Hemi Orange WAS indeed a color on a 340 in 1969, as was Red and Corporate Blue. That was purely luck of the draw. 1969 318s were the same way in cars.

A 340 in a B-body for 1969.

Aftermarket t-stat housing.

Coil bracket.

Yellow-painted oil dipstick handle.

I win.

Same unsilienced design, different shape and diameter. The 273 looks like a really tall 225 slant six air cleaner from the '60s.

I'm impressed. You also brought up something I was unaware of: Hemi Orange 340's in '69. The Chrysler reference books do say that Hemi Orange was used on small block police motors, but never heard of the color also being thrown into the mix along with the ever random selection of Red and Corporate Blue.

Any chance you might know of a photo of an original orange '69 340? Google Images is no help.

Incidentally, you are correct on all points (though the car is a '68), but you haven't nailed the big one yet.

Nevertheless, you get a Mopar M cookie for that superbly detailed reply.

No pictures....but I've had several orange 340's from parts-cars over the years. My best friend had a 69 Swinger-340 in high school. It was orange, also.

Bring on the pictures, if you can. Any chance you also have the negatives? Easier to scan them in batches with a 35mm negative scanner than trying to do flatbed prints on a scanner. Just throwing that out there.

Great source on the '69 GTS registry; thanks. Trying to find reference of the orange blocks but having difficulty weeding through the mounds of info all on one page.
