First of all this is intended, at least from me to all of you, to give us a message of hope in this time of global crisis, my business is not so good ( bad) from an average of 150- 180 garments in a regular day, to 30- 50 garments, my wife is very worried about this situation, and so am i, but I need to show my wife strength, and give her hope, all this is passenger and eventually things will come to normal, I've been talking to my employees and to some I explain the situation, the most important issue right now is to preserve their jobs and keep the business going, I explained to them that sacrifice has to be made, cut salaries in half temporarily only, all of them agree and support us in this very difficult situation, not let anybody unemployed and we all need to pull in the same direction, so my message i think will resume to this, we are all on this together let's help one to the other, and there's always a light in the end of the tunnel, I expect only to have the minimum to pay expenses and pay salaries, please do the same support your employees, and they thank you working harder than before, hang on my gringo friends.

My company has stopped all travel, I'm a traveling technician... So other guys in my department who live close to the home facility are using the down time to rebuild equipment & finally clean up the shop... I on the other hand live about 2000 miles away so I don't have allot going on... They have shipped me a few complex machine components for rebuilding which is much appreciated.. But there is only enough of that sort of work for a few days...

Hopefully everyone is ok with a little time off... I wish it were under better circumstances... I'd much rather go to the beach or take a extended car cruise but instead I went out & bought supplies for some home improvement type stuff....

I booked a duct cleaning job just this morning. It's the first call i've had in a week. Hopefully others will call too ! It's spring, birds are nesting. So i'm sure i'll be getting dryer vent cleaning calls soon too. At least there is some good to this situation. I spoke with a friend who works for Amazon. She's working overtime. And they just got a raise. I've seen vids of Venice canals being clear enough to see fish. Air pollution is down.

I live in a rural area in a nice little community
it's slow, but It's just me & dad I have to worry about
everyone I deal with (work wise) are independent contractors now
(except indirectly the dealerships themselves, employ a lot of techs, office people & sales staff)
I really scaled back when my dad got sick a couple years ago
so I haven't noticed a lot of change...

I've heard from a couple guys/co.'s I use to regularly deal with
that hadn't heard from in quite some time
asking me IF I had any jobs lined up, that they are slow

I basically tell them what I said above, most know it already,
why they went elsewhere to work...
(I recommended a couple small jobs to people, that are really trustworthy,
to do the proper precautions, help to complete, some Honey-do lists of a couple
dealership owners wives...
I've put off for slow times, non-essential needs, fix small stuff, plumbing, electrical, trim etc.
I usually put aside & do for me to make a little extra cash
here & there/it's just car funds really, for me...
I think they need it more than I do right now, as long as the owners & their wives are good with it...
It's a lot of time on the phone, I make nothing from it, just feels like good Karma)

Just the fact, I shouldn't go anywhere, even though I don't usually
or have tapered off big time (except for dad's heart & lungs, rehab ****, even that's stopped)
It sucks not having the freedom to come & go, without any guilt,
or worries, like I shouldn't be doing something or going somewhere
or being selfish or acting on my own whims or needs...
Because I'm bored or curious...

We all need to do our small part, for the betterment of all...
I'm far more worried about my dad's health, than me getting it
or him contracting it, because I was exposed or brought it home,
(even if we have no cases locally) because he's an extremely high risk demographic...

Business is down about 30-35% but holding steady. Customers (except for those tied directly to construction, who remain pretty solid in volume) all indicate they're slower than they have been for some time, with a few seeing some signs of a slight uptick. One account who focuses heavily on medical equipment suppliers has seen an appreciable increase in quote and order activity. Customers tied to retail are very slow. One customer is tied to schools (seating, staging, auditorium equipment, etc) indicates they're seeing a surprisingly normal spring for orders, which is their busy time, ordering for summer/fall deliveries.

Our employee hours were reduced a bit and the management team took a salary reduction. Pretty well froze any hiring and avoiding OT as much as humanly possible, but customer needs come first. Everyone is pulling together to cut costs; some creative ideas have been brought up! We've been taking time to keep employees posted on the latest info regarding the virus and preventive measures and have implemented procedures for cleaning common areas on a formal schedule. A few employees have expressed concern that perhaps we should close up for now, but have been hanging in there. We don't consider closing shop an option at this point.

Being in the residential construction industry, my guys aren't around a lot of people, so installations will carry on as long as we can. Service has dried up as customers don't want us in their homes until this clears up. My job has me confined to the office 98% of the time & the only other workers there are my wife (once a week) and my lead man. I have very little interaction with "outsiders" coming in. We do have two eldery customers who want construction to halt until this clears up, but that doesn't affect us at all, but the GC they hired is frustrated that his guys can't work at those two homes. For the better part of this year, we'll be ok, but it's the long term effects on the economy that I worry about. If no new work comes in, we'll be screwed once the current work is completed.

With everyone currently at a 50+% loss on their investments, I don't see much demand for the two aircraft I'm currently refurbishing for resale. Why I'm working on the wife's TaDoo list instead, may as well make someone happy!

Our body shop is running at our regular pace. We have a couple projects to fill in with if needed.
No problems so far with parts supply and paint ect. Except for them damn dust masks LOL we now use them till their trashed.

I wish my boss had been as gracious as you are. My entire staff of a little over a hundred people was officially laid off two days ago. At the same time, if he's not making money I don't expect him to stay open and/or pay all of our salaries just because it would be the nice thing to do. All I can do is just wish and hope that things will turn around sooner, rather than later...

I feel very lucky - I am able to work from home. Essential employees (those directly involved in the production off medicine) still come on site. All others, like me, are working remotely. Bottom line is I am still being paid so I am very fortunate.

I worry about others and the economy. So many small businesses and workers out of work. My wife and I are trying to order take-out food more than we normally do in a small way to try and help some of the restaurants. It's a small (and maybe useless) token to try and help. Bottom line I am willing to help with my own personal spending habits to help the many small business, but I feel that mostly won't be possible until this thing blows over.

Hang in there, and if we help each other in our communities we will get through this!

I run a small Auto /truck repair in north jersey. Our governor decided that on Monday the state will go to lock down except for essential workers. Apparently I am essential. but work is down by at least half. At this point im just trying to slow the hemorrhaging. I think this whole thing is stupid. We will see how it all unfolds. I’m more concerned about the economic impact of this than the virus itself. I’m able to work somewhat remote and will most likely come out unscathed but I certainly feel for those who own their own business and those who are already put out of work or otherwise financially affected. I hope this runs its course very quickly so we can get back on track. God bless us all.

i buy sell and trade vehicles and scrap them as well.
price of scrap has gone so far down its not even worth making a load.
even if the prices miraculously rebounded,
still cant go to anyones houses/jobs/property until this virus has run its course thru america.
i have not worked in 3 Weeks...and i figure this will take about another 2 Months to go thru.
im down to 1400 cash for the next 2 months,not exactly what id call good.

I know what your saying. Im sure there are alot of folks in the same situation. I know we are. I agree to Summer, might be nice for weather. But Im sure its not going to be the same. Just have to figure out a way to be resourceful. We dont have a plan. But I know we have to be frugal and think of those times when we struggled to get somewhere. What would our Mom and dad done when times were tough? Im sure most of us lived in those situations.
