I've had an on going problem with my lights. Under power at about 700 RPMS idle, with the brake lights and headlights on, they dim.

If I went up in the AMPS for my alternator would this remove the dimming of the head lights under a certain RPM?

I have a new Voltage regulator and it seemed to help quite a bit from before. What's next?

One of the diodes may be shot in the alternator. You don't need 100 amps to power lights.

Relays on the headlights.....send crackedback a pm.

I'm running a 100 amp, 1 wire Tuff Stuff from Summit. You don't need 100 amps but I was planning on electric fans, A/C, etc so my precautions would be to make sure you can get a 2 belt alternator and run a big enough wire if going that route. I can't get 2 belts on mine and it squeels way to much after starting when it's recharging the battery (extremely annoying).

X2 on the relay for headlights. It made a big difference on my 63.

X3, confirming a good ground and relays supplied from the battery are a good idea.

I have new Headlights, but I'm on a budget. I love what Cracked has, but I don't know if I can afford it? $150 right? I have a new set of headlights, with halos.

Oracle sells relays, and I could go to HID's if I wanted to with this kit. I'm just worried about the length. I may just buy them to see if they work. I don't want to take business from a fellow FBBO, but I'm on a budget.

Also, what is the difference between 1 wire and others? I have 3 on my current alternator.

I got my relay kit off eBay for cheap. Perfect fit. Halogen headlights. 100 AMP Tuff Stuff 1 wire alternator for A/C, stereo, etc.

I hardly drive at night nut have no problems when I do.

Alright, good to here. I'll definitely be investing in a new set of relays and an alternator!

Nice looking engine! I have a 100 amp 1-wire Tuff Stuff. Despite people telling me I'd have problems, it's been great and not one problem. I've since rewired the entire car with a Ron Francis kit (love it by the way!).

The difference between the 1 wire is just what it sounds like, everything is internal and just requires 1 wire connecting it to the battery and your done. A warning though, the alternator wire has to pass threw the ammeter in order for the ammeter to work and I wouldn't recommend doing that but instead installing a voltmeter (can be hooked to any 12V source ).

No need bypass the ammeter and convert to voltimeter like madelectrical website suggest with an alt upgrade. Just upgrade wires running to ammeter, bypassing bulkhead terminals... With a powerfull alt and EVERY ACCESORY ADDED sourced CORRECTLY from alt side you'll be making the things correct. Ammeter won't sense any big charge or discharge reading anymore.

On ammeter cars is a BIG MISTAKE source any extra device from batt.
