How much to pay for RR

Well we didnt get to go checkout the car yesterday. The guy never returned our calls. I may have another short day today and will try again this afternoon. If not, no biggie. I wasnt really looking to begin with. Just thought it might be a fun project for me and my daughter.

thats a healthy attitude. :headbang:

Sorry to hear that Man, I hate it when sellers do that. Either way, best of luck to you, and I'm sure the vehicle that was meant to be will work out if you want it to.

Well we got to go look at the car last night. It definitly used to be a 72 Satellite. All I can say is OMG!! "Holy Rusted Metal Batman!!". I havent seen that much fiberglass on a funnycar! And bondo! There was one spot where the bondo was at least 1/2" thick. Needed new front quarters on both sides just from dents and rust (and the 1/2" thick bondo). The rear quarters were pretty much toast at the bottom. By buddy pulled on the bottom where the rear meets the sill and it was all fiberglass. The trunk was fiberglassed over to fill the rust holes. The a pillars looked like they had also been filled in (my buddy was thinking it may have had a vinyl top at one time). The fuel filler had been relocated from under the license plate to the passenger side rear quarter ala Charger but it looked way out of place. It had a "go-wing" but it was not the right one and it was mounted incorrectly as the holes did not line up with the factory mounting holes. The strobe striped looked like it had almost been on the car since new as it was cracked all across the top.
The pluses. 3" exhaust. The rear diff caught our attention. I attached a photo. It doesnt look like an 8 1/4" and definetly not an 8 3/4". Could it be a 9 1/4"? Looks to small to be a Dana 60 but I'm no expert. It had a 440/727. Not sure why it wasnt fitting in the engine bay. The engine was sitting on the steering box. I have a 383 in my SSP/RR so I cant figure out why the 440 was sitting the way it was. The interior was fantastic. The dash pad was toast. Great steering wheel. Front suspension/k-frame/brakes looked great. Tranny crossmember looked new. He had a very nice and very straight 340 hood with hood blinkers. All of the window and drip-rails looked great. Just needed to be polished. Not sure how he did it but there were LED's in the tail lights but no lenses. HID's in the front. Front park lights were in-tact. The guy had removed the fender tag but couldnt locate it at the time. I told him I would decifer it for him if he found it. The build sheet was in the seat back (the trunk divider was missing so you could see the back of the rear seat). He honestly did not know what he had. He had gotten the car given to him as payment for something. I told him that he basically had a beautiful parts car with some awsome parts. Somebody with alot of money and no concern for resale value could fix it as most of the problems were just body related. He has someone coming to look at it Saturday. I told him if it was a no sale that maybe we could work something out. Its not in good enough shape for someone like me to attempt to turn it back into a driver, but it was great parts potential.

Well, defenitely glad you got to go check it out. I had something similar happen with a car I looked at a few weekends ago, it was a nicely painted rust bucket that the seller wanted a nicely restored pre-2007 price for...

If he does decide to part it out, it could be nice for your '71!

I forgot to mention that the guy was very gracious as he let us go over the car. He seemed very interested as we were telling him what he had there. We did tell him he had some great stuff there but the body was to far gone, for us anyway. Really, really nice guy. I hope it works out for him.

Glad you didnt buy that plie! Looks like another...

The owner called today and said the appointment today offered him $4500. I told him he better jump on that. My personal feeling is that he may not have gotten an offer at all and was hoping I would counter.

The rear is a 8 1/4 ten bolt cover a 9 1/4 would have a 12 bolt cover . the motor mounts look homemade probaly made to fit a small block k frame .
