How's your view ?

On the road to Hana guy in front of us almost got hit head on buy a local in a pickup. They went by me they were laughing their azzs off. Get stuck and need a tow $500 unless things have changed.

This is our 4th time here. We’ve driven rt.30/340 multiple times and the Road to Hana 4 times. I like driving rt.30 on the inside and during the day. If you get car sick, this is definitely not the road for you! I had to drive on the outside at dusk once and will never do it again. They now charge for parking at a lot of the road side areas - blow hole, olivine pools, etc. We paid $18.00 for parking at the blow hole. - ridiculous! There are a lot of no parking signs on the road to Hana and rt.30 which makes it difficult to see a lot of the sites.

That sounds about right, the locals fly on these one lane, cliff side, winding roads. I always try to pull off as soon as possible to let them by. On the backside of the road to Hana, the desolate-looking area where some cattle ranches are, a kid on an ATV when flying by us at full speed. With no helmet of course. I can’t believe he kept it on the road.

One of the other times we came here, an older couple in a convertible mustang panicked on one of the real narrow winding sections of rt.30. They basically froze. A local coming the other way backed their car to a spot where he could get the car turned around. Which caused us and several other cars to backup. Traffic was a mess for a while.

340 gets very tight and some think they can force you around, the narrow points are nerve racking with the one point going out requiring you to honk before passing isn’t for the faint of heart. I didn’t get to enjoy the view and rental car companies don’t want you on it I found out. It was the longest 20 miles of my life!

It never gets old…
