Picked up a Quarter stick to replace the ProMatic ratchet the previous owner had in the car. I was hoping to use the same cable but the ends are completely different so will swap in the new cable. My question is, the ProMatic sat too far forward for my comfort and the previous owner had drilled a LOT of holes (Swiss cheese anyone?) so I would like to move it rearward about 6" for comfort and solid mounting. The existing cable (assuming 5' like the new one) does not seem to have a lot of slack so I am worried 6" rearward might be too far. Anyone with any experience in this area care to comment, don't want to add even more holes only to have to move the shifter again.
