I bought a bunch of Hot Wheels cars and I feel kind of bad.

I was at a garage sale and I bought two big ziplock bags of Hot Wheels cars, trucks, and military and construction vehicles. They have definitely been played with but that just adds to their charm for me. I just feel like their son someday is going to ask, "Hey Mom, where are all my Hot Wheels cars?" My mother tossed my cars and huge football card collection from when I was young. Maybe that's why I have too much stuff as an adult. It worked out to about $.10/car.

The only one your guys would care about is the '74 Charger. Were any of you able to keep your HW cars from when you were a kid?

All my goodies got sold at a garage sale. I bought most of the stuff back from E bay in the last 20 years. :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

I came home from work to find most of my childhood stuff piled at the curb that was in the attic. My dad was trying to wipe away anything my mom touched I guess after she died. I still have GIJoe and my hotwheels, everything else is gone.

Most my cards got ripped apart in the spokes of my Schwinn. Hot Wheels was a big part of my grade school days. My friend had a huge selection and the drag race track. I would bring my 40+ cars and we would do single elimination drag race of all cars on rainy days. And the race always came down to his new silver '69 Boss Mustang vs my Red Baron helmet car. The competition would take hours. Sometimes having to complete a different day.

Fun times and memories.

I have all of mine and my old slot cars and track. My mother probably kept them since I was a gear head from about age 3, lol. My daughter played with them when she was little and now my granddaughter loves to play with them.

Most all of mine got blew up in the front yard and the sandbox......right after we opened a brand new package of BlackCat firecrackers......

When my son was young we'd get out a huge tub of Hot Wheels and then take turns selecting cars one at a time. Then I'd say okay put out your best 4WD of your best Hot Rod. The best vehicle got to grab both cars. He usually won most of the cars. Then back into the tub for the next time. We would also make ramps and straights out of hardback children's books and roll 1/18th cars down them. It was always easy to buy him gifts, just another 1/18th die-cast car. It wasn't long before we would unbox them and display them in his bedroom and keep the boxes in the attic. I never threw away any of his toys. He still has all his big Lego kits and Knex kits.

My son did a science experiment in grade school. We weighed some Hot Wheels on a postal scale and then measured the difference in how far they would jump off a ramp.

Okay, how were you using Hot Wheels in the spokes of your bicycle? We just used playing cards.

Most of my Hot Wheels, Matchbox, AFX and Tyco slot cars are gone. Still have a few built models, ended up re-buying the cars I had from my childhood, like the original 16 and other memorable ones. Now I am a member of RLC and buy a lot of new cars but am also selling some as I have what I think is too many now.

Just a few...

At some point my mom gave all my Hot Wheels and Sizzler stuff - cars, track, etc - to my younger cousin. No idea what happened with it after that, but it all likely ended up at a garage sale or in the trash.

I still have my Aurora A/FX and Tyco slot cars as well as all my dad's 1/24th & 1/32nd (I think) scale slot cars that he used to build and race. My original HO scale track is long gone, but I bought a new set in the late 80's. The new cars were sooo much faster than my old ones. Still have it all, but it hasn't been set up in a long time.

A lot of my plastic models met the same fate.

4th of July in the early 90's when I was in my mid/late 20s, I was out on the sidewalk in front of our first house blowing up some old car models with firecrackers. Neighbor that lived kitty-corner across the street came running out with a large 3-masted sailing ship model to join the fun. Shortly after another neighbor from down the street came over. 3 "grown" men in our 20's and 30's blowing up everything we could while our wives were just shaking their heads and acting like they didn't know us lol.

I was more of a vintage Matchbox guy (older than I was, etc) and later Tomy pocket cars, but I still have 90% of them in "played with" condition.

About 6.
My hotwheels/matchbox were hand me downs from an older brother. Then I handed them to two younger brothers.
Yeah not much left. Many lost outside, couple got run over by the haywagon when I left them there for lunch when I was little,(it was shady under there!) Some got a bb gun, most though just got worn out.

I have a few, missing paint, one funny car with the top missing.... in my sons small collection. My favorite, though it is in sorry shape, is the original batmobile in die cast. The one that survived best was boxy, black, hood scoop with whats left of a flame job paint job on the front. Forget what it is called, but it survived the best, but the bar is awful low lol.

I've mentioned it before but guess I'll say it again... Being a Military Brat we moved around a lot.. When ever we moved we were limited on how much we could bring along... We kid were each allotted five pounds for toys... I have very little in the way of toys from my youth... No need for any pity though what I do have is experiences & adventures all around the world, Europe, Asia, the Middle East along with living in eight states & having visited forty two states...

I too have a sickness, or an addiction. I managed to wean myself off after I had amassed almost 8,000 cars since 2002. Most are sitting in cartons for now....but some adorn my garage walls. I love the muscle cars and got all crazy buying every new Mopar that was issued.
Picked up some rare cars along the way.

Just a minute selection.

Yep, have all my original Matchbox and Hot Wheels - except the GT40 that rat-bastard zoller stole... Also still have my few Dinkys and Corgis from that time. Regrettably don't have all my Tonka, BuddyL and large Ertl tho...
Never feel bad about buying toys! At least thats what I tell myself... I try to stay away from that aisle in the store, but occasionally still bring home a couple. For example, Hot Wheels recently came out with a Jeep XJ! 95 - the best year - and even in the colour of mine, tho the model has too many doors... I mean, what could I do but buy several?!?!?
