It was a '76 in pretty rough shape mechanically and body wise. $2,200. This is what they look like fixed up. I think it was this color. Unlike most I like the malaise cars. They can always made to be fast. It was rockin' the swivel buckets.

I would go for one of these in a heartbeat.

My brother owned a twin to this one in the 70s. It was the best driving, best sorted old Musclecar I’ve ever driven.

You HAD to be there. Living in real time through the changes. Seeing great cars morph into crudmobiles. Design-wise, I think 75 was the banner year for the surrender of style, and all subsequent years. Although Chryco did better with the bumpers than everyone else. Ford was horrible, a family could have a picnic on their front porch. But honestly, I think I'd rather have that ^^ Olds before most non-Mopar cars of recent years.

In maybe a sick sense, I have a nostalgic endearment for those cars. I do like the Chevy Laguna and the Pontiac Can-Am particularly.

Being in the great salt state of NY, the first thing I hear is those doors dropping when opened. I can also see the grooves worn in the door strikers from the droopy door syndrome.

My dad had a Cutlass in the 80's. The style that looks like the Buick Grand National. Rear drive, that car sold very, very well for Oldsmobile

I have always liked/wanted a 70 Olds 442. I almost bought a red one with white stripes when I was a kid. However, it caught on fire while the current owner was driving it and torched the hood and fenders. I never saw it again after that happened.

The intake runners are so long on a olds they were notorious for running on after you shut them off. Occasionally catching the carb on fire. We found out a thermoquad is a terrible carb for a Olds 455. But the carb did melt completely and put the fire out. It literally could've burned the hole garage down if it wasnt for that.
