I think Friday was the proudest day of my life!

My son Bryce took his last final and turned in his homework for his college degree. He succeeded in getting his Mechanical Engineering diploma. When he was a child he had an aptitude for figuring things out. He still does. He can look at a problem and find how to get it done. The other week he took out his transmission in his 3/4 ton Dodge Ram 4x4 and put a newly rebuilt/beefed up one. He did it in a wet gravel driveway.

I know you're supposed to be proud on your wedding day or when your children are born and I was. This one is different. It was kind of a reach for the stars and he achieved his goal. It gave me a funny feeling in my chest. That must be why they must associate pride with your chest. I can definitely feel it.

Congratulations!! FWIW I've worked with allot of engineers through the years... The guys who grew up getting their hands dirty always have an edge... The guys who read the book & believe thats the only thing that matters generally aren't well received or respected.... Sounds like your son will be one of the good ones... Awesome cause while it's true there are plenty of engineering jobs it's also true there are allot more "engineers" than there are competent engineers...
