hey all its been a while since ive been on here .
hope you all can help me again another issue im having with my 73 roadrunner. had a problem with the key not turning smooth so when i was putting my steering column back in after re building my suspension.
so i took it all apart and found that the ignition switch ( the wiring harness peice) was cracked . i have another one that is brand new , well new but original old part in box. my question starts there,
on my original one i have the basic wires but on the new one i have a small orange wire beside the two red wires. it isnt connected to the tumbler unit but comes out of the pigtail (plug end) and is about 8" long. what the heck is that wire for.
pretty much all the orange wires i can find on the harness are for lights , what would this one be for. my buddy says to just wrap it , tape it and forget it :argue: i say no. any help on this will be very much appriciated. thanks in advance

orange, light for shifter lettering when column shifter.

reds, wires for ign key buzzer switch. They continue on underdash harness being black.

they are NOT part of the ign switch setup when you buy new ign switches, just ads on as far the car is equipped ( buzzer switch is allways equipped )
