As a Draftsman I work with a lot of Engineers & Architects. Architects are Prima donna's while Engineers struggle with people skills.
Doesn't mean they’re bad people they just come across that way some times.

Wow, 45 years as a PE in construction management and you guys probably summarized my experiences perfectly. I will never be known as a people person and some of my best friends were architects but damn they could drive you crazy at times.

Now back to the regularly scheduled discussion.

WHY???? I believe in the right of free speech, even though you may or may not agree with my position. BTW...what gives you the right to act as spokesperson/editor to stop posting?.......it must be an awesome responsibility, to know everything about everything.......

It seems that you are just flat argumentative and never really offer any viable solutions to anyone’s question. You rant on and on and usually make no sense while speaking (writing) in a manor that no one understands grammatically and otherwise.

If you don’t want to help the guy diagnose the problem he has with electronic ignition and instead want to chastise him for changing from points you should just move on. Over the years I have seen many a poster get frustrated with your BS.

Try to be a constructive contributing member to this community and I venture to say you’d be more well received.

Your right there is free speech. But also when you joined this forum you agreed to some "rules " that may infringe on your " free speech"

More so people are allowed to do whatever they want to their cars and no one has control over that. , this forum is ment to be a source of information and where people can ask question openly with out being insulted , degraded or subject to uncessary ignorance and arrogance from other people.

You want free speech ? Go ahead and maybe you allow people free choice of wihat they do to their car as they please. Chances are that will even the two out.

You don't like what they do to their car or choice they made? Move on to another post if you have nothing helpful or contributing. No one wants or will stand for being insulted or degraded or have words put in their mouth for a modification ( or in some cases factory parts that you also dont seem to agree with ) they do to their vehicle and are simply asking for help .

There is an ignore feature for those you just can’t tolerate.

Edit: just pointing this out as available. For the record I haven’t used it. I can move on when things get a little contentious.

How many times are the same issues brought up time and time again......they've been asked and answered at least 200 times.....especially ignition issues and associated components. WHY DOESN'T the OP do a search rather than asking the same question. The same people reiterate the same responses every time,.....loose/corroded bulkhead wiring, bad coils, wrong spark plugs, vacuum leaks, etc....how is this progress.....or perhaps people do not know how to operate the search function but just repeat the same question. So, you're the self proclaimed umpire, deciding which comment or response is valid or worthy of your acumen. If the OP doesn't know how to use the search function, all they have to do is ask. In the meantime time, I'll continue to comment........or are you making that determination?.......

Bob,
Your typing finger must get reeeeeeeeal sore typing lines & lines of negativity. Not to mention the hrs & min of your life you are wasting...& not going to get back at the end.

You are a knowledgeable person. Why not just answer positively if you can help...otherwise take up bird watching [ feathered...].

Yeah pretty handy. Sometimes I take it off to see what all the hubbub is about. In this case I removed it and there he was, spewing his BS and insulting the original poster without offering any help. It’s good to see others are starting to push back on him too.

This was the first post I looked at today, and right on time, Renton, was there ranting and raving about his superior knowledge and supreme intellect, he's the opposite of helpful. He's a bully and an ***, the moderator NEEDS TO WARN HIM to stop bullying, be helpful, or be banned permanently. It's really irritating to know he's always there with insulting words, but no need to understand the situation.

Thanks for the acknowledgement.....instead of taking up bird watching.....I'll be watching the stock market...making $$$...

I've said it before.... Bob is old-school and likes to be in possession of all the facts when it comes to diagnosing problems. Some members (mostly newer ones) forget to outline a detailed situation when describing a fault.

Consequently, many helpful members go off half-cocked and it isn't until we get all the facts or pictures that a successful conclusion is reached. Please try to be tolerant of other members as tensions are getting up a little over personality clashes.

Remember also that you surrender many of your "rights" when you sign up to these websites (and others) - rights are a privilege here as with other sites, and the law of the land becomes the word of the site owners. Joey is a really fair guy, and he rules with balance and much consideration.

I know some of you won't agree with me on the above, and that's your prerogative. But deep down I know Bob is a very knowledgeable guy and he does like to help where he can.
This continual attacking against him, and by him is not something we want to see moving forward, so I ask everyone to just pull back a bit.

Thanks.

Bet its the COIL!

They say you can run them in start mode, full 13.8 V.

BUT NO! they overheat and cut out...

10 VOLTS is plenty.

Don't ask me how I know...:mob:

Too many seat of the pants "engineers", with best intentions but no real knowledge of how the system works, other than a magazine article or a buddy's word of mouth recommendation, spending $$ and plunge ahead making a good, reliable origional Mopar ignition systems worse. WHY change something that doesn't need charging, searching for what??.......more HP or better MPG or smoother idling or bragging rights or peer pressure?? "Upgrading the car"......to race it or ???.....what is your ultimate goal?......it's just a hobby car. Many thousands of customers spent thousands of $$$.....and the only people benefiting from the expenditures is the suppliers of the components.....unless you just like tinkering with car for something to do.......????.....just my opinion of course........it's your car, perhaps you should do a search on the FBBO forum as this same issue has been discussed at least 500 times previously........

LOL So what's your point?

According to an AI bot, Bob is wrong! No hard feelings! I prefer points too.

Question: is electronic ignition better than points ignition?

AI Assist Answer: Yes, electronic ignition is generally considered better than points ignition because it offers more precise timing, requires less maintenance, and provides better performance and reliability, especially at higher RPMs. Points ignition, while simpler and cheaper initially, tends to wear out over time and requires regular adjustments.

As an architect who values his time in the field working with contractors as there are no problems, only solutions, I take offense at that generalization. As with ALL people, there are good and bad within every type. I have worked for several of the prima donnas and have made it a point of my practice to treat everyone I interact with the same. From the snobby client to the man digging the footing, all are the same to me.
