I'm getting close to switching to a roller cam in the big block!

I like that you sprayed the engine a slightly different color than factory (wasn't it go mango?)
It really pops, even on my crappy phone screen!

Yes sir...GoManGo....

That was in 2022. At that time, the intake and heads had some stains due to the nature of bare cast aluminum. I primed and painted them with dull silver header paint and cleared over it all. It looked great at first but after awhile, the paint lifted and wrinkled. It wasn’t bad enough to pull apart to paint but with this project, it made sense to do since I’m torn down this far. I liked how a friends engine looked painted all one color. I didn’t think I’d like the look of orange heads and intake but Rich’s 5.9/408 looks great. I mixed up some of the GoManGo and went for it.

I’m not trying to fool anyone into thinking this is a stock 440. I just felt the urge to change things a bit.

If you go the MRE route I highly suggest using MRE Rockers only with Stanke shafts. Mancini also sells the shafts. When I dropped my lifters my MRE shafts showed premature wear at only 2k miles. The Rockers looked great. Someone had told me about these shafts and the oil galleys in them and my engine builder loved them.

Personally, not a fan. Seems like just another gimmick to offset bad quality. That big ol’ trough won’t add any more oil to the rocker, and it reduces the surface area/contact area of the most critical point on the shaft. They should have at least banana grooved it.

So you’ve actually had your hands on these and tried them? Please don’t comment if you can’t tell these aren’t banana grooved. “ Precision Ground, Melonite QPQ treated for Hardness Rocker Shafts. Made in USA, in our shop with USA DOM material. Improved oiling with Banana Groves and removable end plugs for easy cleaning. Shafts feature O-ringed end plugs that stay in place with the end rocker shaft bolt” Just pulled the valve covers off while I have my 3rd member out and these shafts are working awesome after 1000 miles. My engine builder told me back in 17 when I put these MRA rocker arms and shafts on that he thought that the tolerance was too tight on those shafts and they wouldn’t get adequate oiling and boy was he right.

No, I have not.

The picture post are not banana grooved.

I have read the information on them. My option is unaltered.

1000 miles in 9 years. Is that what you meant to say?

I went with rocker arms listed on the Summit site from Comp Cams. When they arrived, they had Edelbrock labels on the packaging.

The bottom ones are the new shafts.

They appear to be drilled the same as the Mancini Racing shafts.

No grooves from wear though...

The oiling holes are chamfered. That is a plus.
Still waiting on the pushrods, due here any minute now.
