Having ridden in some fast EV's, yes they can be quite impressive in that area.

But if had $60-70k to blow, it would not be on a new EV no matter how fast it was.

Yes, they can make 6000lbs EV's move right out.
Buddy had a 600HP fox body 20 years ago that pulled 9's in the 1/4. So 11.5 makes me wonder how it can do 60 in 3.3 but not do better than 11.5.....

Also, notice how not a single EV article talks about how the new EV model set a lap record on the nurburgring? Last time I checked a Cadillac CTS-V from many moons back still holds a faster time than any of the EV's.
I know in the land of muscle cars we don;t care about corners as much but I DO care about how heavy and computerized these are. I would NEVER buy one of these.
oh yeah, MSRP is 2.5 times what I paid for my 400HP AWD hemi Charger 12 years ago.
I am going to look for a 98/99 Durango with a 5.9 for my next car. It will weigh half and some change of what a new EV charger does. Let that sink in, an SUV from the 90's weighs half and a bit from what a new sedan does.....

Until they figure out how to make these cars weigh 3500lbs and not turn into a live volcano when a battery ruptures they can keep their computerized crap.

To be fair, I live in BFE WI and I can floor it to 90mph every single day pulling out onto the mostly empty highway on my way to work if I want. Not everyone lives in a city.
That said, winding up a snarling V8 is and always will be 1000% more entertaining than the fastest EV.

My 2000 Durango was 4600 fully loaded....can't remember what it ran at the track but high 16's stick in my brain. 5.2 with 3.90 gears and LSD. It handled well too for a big lug with front and rear sway bars. I ordered it like that and with the trailer tow package. It did ok hauling my daughter's Pitiful Thing GT turbo but imo, that car was pretty heavy feeling. Of course, I'm used to hauling with a 97 Club Cab LWB 3/4 ton diesel That thing is like night and day from most of the trucks I've had except for one....a 79 D300 Club Cab LWB single wheel with a 360 and granny 4 speed but the fuel mileage on that was 8 loaded or not lol

is just a few of the many negative aspects of them
the electric bill you will pay charging them daily too,
the cost of the battery charger & the installation & adding to your panel
Electrician cost, all **** they never tell ya' on top of the price of the car

HP EV’s are intriguing because it’s new and does have that quiet advantage. But for me, no thanks at all! Maybe someday the technology will get there but…. not for me at this point!

Give them credit: they did it with a car. They wasn't stupid and did it with a 5 ton Hummer, like GM.

98/99 you can get with no factory steps, no 3rd seat, and a 5.9 with an old style transfer case so you can actually put it in 2wd instead of full time AWD.
You could also get a 2wd version with no 4wd, but not with a 5.9. 2wd 5.2 no 3rd row/steps brings the factory weight down to about 3650, or pretty close to a 70's B body sedan.
2000-up 4.7/5speed auto weighed more and had more drivetrain power loss. 5.9's came with full time AWD, so more weight and more drivetrain loss.

I am not sure I want to get a 4wd, because I am not sure I want to drive it in WI salt. Swapping to a 5.9 from a 5.2 would be easy. Adding a 5 speed stick to a 98/99 isn't impossible either as even the center floor shift console has a pop out cover for where the shifter goes. I know from my 98 dakota 5.2 5 speed, simple exhaust mods both up the power and MPG.
My issue is 98/99 dakotas and durangos are either returning to the earth or extinct in WI from the salt. Well that may be harsh, they are everywhere yet but the rockers are all crapping out, the front fenders lost their Magnum emblems because they rust from the inside out right there, and the rear bumpers on dakotas and rear hatch on durangos also crap out from salt. So I will need to either do a long road trip or pay someone to haul it here.

No matter how fast or impressive they are I just can't get myself to like them ev cars. For me it's all about internal combustion engines and the fun type of work we do to make them go faster and sound better with that badass lumpy cam idle!! I love it, wrenching on old v8 motors is my happy place have zero interest in an electric car.
