But no thanks. The readings on these EV supercars are quite interesting, to say the least. And, it appears that many a manufacturer is jumping on the bandwagon. Even our MOPARS!!! The article just builds upon the Coupe version, but the zero to 60 in 3.3 seconds is like being launched into space in a rocket ship!!! cr8crshr/Bill :usflag: :usflag: :usflag:

Having ridden in some fast EV's, yes they can be quite impressive in that area.

But if had $60-70k to blow, it would not be on a new EV no matter how fast it was.

One of the guys here bought one. There's a thread about it here somewhere.

Yes, they can make 6000lbs EV's move right out.
Buddy had a 600HP fox body 20 years ago that pulled 9's in the 1/4. So 11.5 makes me wonder how it can do 60 in 3.3 but not do better than 11.5.....

Also, notice how not a single EV article talks about how the new EV model set a lap record on the nurburgring? Last time I checked a Cadillac CTS-V from many moons back still holds a faster time than any of the EV's.
I know in the land of muscle cars we don;t care about corners as much but I DO care about how heavy and computerized these are. I would NEVER buy one of these.
oh yeah, MSRP is 2.5 times what I paid for my 400HP AWD hemi Charger 12 years ago.
I am going to look for a 98/99 Durango with a 5.9 for my next car. It will weigh half and some change of what a new EV charger does. Let that sink in, an SUV from the 90's weighs half and a bit from what a new sedan does.....

Until they figure out how to make these cars weigh 3500lbs and not turn into a live volcano when a battery ruptures they can keep their computerized crap.

unless your regularly racing it, who needs to to do 0-60 in 3 sec?
To be fair, I live in BFE WI and I can floor it to 90mph every single day pulling out onto the mostly empty highway on my way to work if I want. Not everyone lives in a city.
That said, winding up a snarling V8 is and always will be 1000% more entertaining than the fastest EV.

My 2000 Durango was 4600 fully loaded....can't remember what it ran at the track but high 16's stick in my brain. 5.2 with 3.90 gears and LSD. It handled well too for a big lug with front and rear sway bars. I ordered it like that and with the trailer tow package. It did ok hauling my daughter's Pitiful Thing GT turbo but imo, that car was pretty heavy feeling. Of course, I'm used to hauling with a 97 Club Cab LWB 3/4 ton diesel :) That thing is like night and day from most of the trucks I've had except for one....a 79 D300 Club Cab LWB single wheel with a 360 and granny 4 speed but the fuel mileage on that was 8 loaded or not lol

Yep cool, but I'll pass
no interest in any EV ever, just does nothing for me

fast or not

cost to buy & own, reg. & insure is crazy
is just a few of the many negative aspects of them
the electric bill you will pay charging them daily too,
the cost of the battery charger & the installation & adding to your panel
Electrician cost, all **** they never tell ya' on top of the price of the car

HP EV’s are intriguing because it’s new and does have that quiet advantage. But for me, no thanks at all! Maybe someday the technology will get there but…. not for me at this point!

98/99 you can get with no factory steps, no 3rd seat, and a 5.9 with an old style transfer case so you can actually put it in 2wd instead of full time AWD.
You could also get a 2wd version with no 4wd, but not with a 5.9. 2wd 5.2 no 3rd row/steps brings the factory weight down to about 3650, or pretty close to a 70's B body sedan.
2000-up 4.7/5speed auto weighed more and had more drivetrain power loss. 5.9's came with full time AWD, so more weight and more drivetrain loss.

I am not sure I want to get a 4wd, because I am not sure I want to drive it in WI salt. Swapping to a 5.9 from a 5.2 would be easy. Adding a 5 speed stick to a 98/99 isn't impossible either as even the center floor shift console has a pop out cover for where the shifter goes. I know from my 98 dakota 5.2 5 speed, simple exhaust mods both up the power and MPG.
My issue is 98/99 dakotas and durangos are either returning to the earth or extinct in WI from the salt. Well that may be harsh, they are everywhere yet but the rockers are all crapping out, the front fenders lost their Magnum emblems because they rust from the inside out right there, and the rear bumpers on dakotas and rear hatch on durangos also crap out from salt. So I will need to either do a long road trip or pay someone to haul it here.

"Electricity is cheaper than gas." "Dodge is taking preorders." The article is a freakin ad, now go get some solar panels to enable your eV charged. Dodge is taking preorders, but is anyone actually making a preorder ??? KEEP IT !!

No matter how fast or impressive they are I just can't get myself to like them ev cars. For me it's all about internal combustion engines and the fun type of work we do to make them go faster and sound better with that badass lumpy cam idle!! I love it, wrenching on old v8 motors is my happy place have zero interest in an electric car.

Dodge has forgotten who their customer base is.

I see it coming another Stellantis epic fail..

Not impressive when your range drops by 1/3 when the weather get cold, not impressive is range anxiety or waiting like a dope for hours to charge it up, not impressive is replacing the expensive tires every year or so, and not impressive is replacing the batteries when they wear out.

My wife had an uncle that never used a microwave and refused to eat anything put in one. He didn't like it, or most importantly, he didn't understand it. The last time one of us flew across the country, was it in a biplane or a jet and if they asked us to go in a biplane, what would we have said. I've owned some pretty potent cars and boats, and I do have a love for the smell of gas, but life moves on and that's just how it is. My daily driver doesn't have to be able to do a 160 or cover the quarter in 8 seconds. The EPA has turned the looks of our engines into a spaghetti factory and we don't like that either. Some hate restomods, I don't. As far as Stellantis making a big mistake, they're all going to hold hands and jump off that cliff together, eventually. Keep in mind, I never said I liked the idea and if I want a trip back, I'll take my 65 out for a ride. By the way, that uncle that never liked a microwave ate at my house a ton of times and I know for a fact he ate food that had been in the microwave, I just didn't tell him and he didn't need to know. He picked his fight and we're picking ours. He lost and we eventually will also.

Still have all the negatives to contend with. Strip mining for rare minerals, high manufacturing pollution, under-developed country/labor exploitation, aging rickety electrical grid, recharging times, lack of recharging facilities for other than single family residences, heavy weight/accelerated tire wear, high degree of reliance on fossil fuels for additional electric power generation, volatile self-immolations with accompanying air and ground contamination, little industry capitalistic interest (with exception of Tesla) to financially support national charging infrastructure.

Get back to me when you have a handle on all of this.
