For installing the rear glass I've read previous threads & the general consensus seems to be to use the 3M 5/16" butyl tape kit & prep the painted area with a scuff pad & pinch weld primer before installing the glass.

Question is, do I need to use butyl caulk around the edges or is the tape sufficient?

That's what I'm concerned about as well, car won't see too many showers but no trailer queen. With it being hidden by the trim the worry is definitely function over what the factory did. Assuming I'll know when enough is enough when no water leaks in a spray test? Do know the old rubber will eventually dry out and contract, allowing water in, though imagine this would take quite a few years to become an issue.

Do you recall what you used? I'm assuming all butyl rubber caulking is going to be similar but my knowledge is lacking and don't want end up using something that eats the paint or vinyl top up.

I just did my rear glass and did caulk the bottom and about half way up the sides to ensure no water laying in the bottom.Might want to tape the paint and glass as the stuff is sticky.

Do you guys know what particular sealer you used?
I'm finding references to a 3M 08606 for the butyl but finding it to have been discontinued. Found a black urethane version 3M 08609 that appears to be usable and the data sheet on the tape kit says it is compatible with urethane. Just don't want to get started and end up making a nasty mess i'll have to redo.
